I must similarly confess; I haven't played the original Deus Ex yet. (Though I have played Human Revolution) I really should get around to it sometime.
As for Fatal Frame, I'll be the first to admit it's not for everyone. If you love survival horror games of the PS1/PS2 era with their slow deliberate pacing, you'll probably enjoy it, and I'd definitely recommend them in that case, but if you prefer your games fast paced and accessible, it may not be your cup of tea.
Speaking of which, Fatal Frame 2 released on original Xbox, you could start there. :P
