Forums - Nintendo - So...NX is a "New Way of Playing Games"... I'm Scared

Every Nintendo fan should be scared.

As someone who has thoroughly enjoyed all of their systems, I'm not scared. Nintendo should be scared whether they can move the consoles, but I'm not (but they damn well better have more software this gen!)

Thank god Nintendo exists. Otherwise it would be the same thing X3

I would be scared if Nintendo's statements would be hinting at a system that is like a PS4.

I am excited!

PS: You people are a bunch of pussies.

Great minds think alike.

I'm hope Kimi is being sincere here.

As loathe as I am to admit it, they probably do need a gimmick now. They can't compete head on with Sony/MS.

However if the gimmick isn't something amazing, they are then pretty much fucked because like the Wii U they will be stuck with an underpowered console that has very little marketshare.

They've said this is not a continuation of the Wii or Wii U brands, so we'll see what they've come up with I guess. I'm not really holding my breath.

I think when you are trying to force innovation you end up with poor products.

Just make sure you're body is ready. :-p

Same here, escpecially when all the steps they are taking (releasing in a timeframe not to compete with Sony/Xbox, showing info on the console outside of a major gaming event, insisting the NX is a "new way to play games") point more toward a console exactly like Wii and Wii U.

Agreed. I wouldn't want 3 of the same consoles on the market which is one of the reasons why I can't doubt Nintendo. They always at least try to innovate. I just hope NX isn't too out of touch with modern gaming.

To quite Jim Sterling: Why does Nintendo have these COMPLETELY unfounded obsession with "newness"?

Probably looking at manufacturing costs of $200-ish for the hardware system itself (slightly less powerful than an XBO using mobile Nvidia chip), $50 for a free form LCD touch panel on the controller, $30-$40 for some kind of new gimmick ... voila $299.99 console.

What... are you entertaining the possibility that the new Nintendo system won't have a gimmick?

Oh you...

I have to agree with this anyone who thinks a new platform from them can compete with out some kind of quirk needs to wake up.
