Forums - Microsoft - is it still worth buying a 360 now?

@ Legend 11: Ah, you meant the games after GoW2. Sorry, should have read your post more thoroughly.

@ koopatrooper, I have a theory:

You are either from Baden-Württemberg (money talk) or you only live in Germany but were born in Scotland (Celtic love & money talk)

Buy a 360 and everything else you want (and can afford). You only live once.

ok, then lost odysessy is the best JRPG on the 360, but thats sadly still not much..

How do you know?  Have you played it?  You don't look to currently have a 360.  Did you play it at a friends?  I don't have it myself, but plan to get it.  And I don't know what you mean by over rated, Lost Odyssey has mediocre reviews from what I've seen.  And from the poeple I've talked to that have the game, they love it, every one of them say the reviews highly under rate the game.

X360 now is 199$...

And there's still a shitload of great games coming out for the system:

Gears of War 2.

Ninja Gaiden 2.

Banjo Threeie. (or something like that)

Fallout 3.

Halo Wars.

Unreal Tournament 3 (timed PS3 exclusive i believe).

Etc...Etc...Etc...

Although there will be a succesor to the X360 in aprox. 2 years!

even if the new 360 comes out in a year from now, it will be another year before there's a half decent game to play on it. having said that if you cant see enough reasons to buy a 360 already, then there wont be enough reasons in getting the next xbox as the games will probably all be the same with a higher digit on the end of the title.

Hell YES. I just picked up an Elite. Tempted by Ebay but many going for shop prices or more!?! especially when you add postage costs and posibility of a dodgy seller.

Got it from a shop with a free game, sold the game for £30 so my Elite cost me £230. Its the new 175w Team FDOU! Plenty of uses for it multimedia wise (not just games) will hook it up to Vista and Windows Media Centre in the future for all my needs!!!

Worth getting a good premium bundle if you dont wanna pay extra for the black finish.

Excellent online experience, mass effect, bioshock, halo 3, call of duty 4, lost odyssey, gears of war (you cannot ignore this games). Better performance in the multiplatform games... YEP, why not?

I enjoy my 360 as much as the next guy, but out of your 6 games listed, 5 are shooters. I know ME is called an RPG, but it is just a 3rd person shooter with some RPG elements in it. Similar to how Bioshock is sometimes put into the RPG genre, but I can tell you, that is no RPG, leveling up weapons or not.

Only reason I could give for getting a 360 to be honest? If you like shooters and RPG's (for right now).

You also need to see if this guy is willing to spend $50 a year to play online. I for one do not as my PS3 and Wii do online just fine. So I play where it is free.

The TC doesn't really give any information on why he would want one, so we really have no solid information to give him and "good" answer.

We should ask the TC this question. "What would you be getting a 360 for?"

you can actual ignore some of those games. lost odysessy has been really over rated, reason being becuase its the only JRPG on the 360. Halo 3 is a completley average game. mass effect and gears of war are must plays, but call of duty is out for PC and PS3 so u really dont need a 360 for it.

Eternal Sonata? Blue Dragon? Ok, so that gives us 3 JRPG's... how many on the Wii and/or PS3? 360 is the only console right now tht has JRPG's, unable to flip that anytime soon.

Lost Odyssey was not over rated, go play it. As a 12+ year fan of the Final fantasy franchise, this game brought back things that I have missed since FF X, Blue Dragon had great music reminiscent of FF IX with nice old school JRPG gameplay to boot.

Never played Halo 3, so I can't comment on it, but I know I would never play it since the main reason for it (online) would cost me a 2nd entrance fee of $50 since I don't have a Gold account since I personally feel LIVE is a ripoff.

I actually don't think he can just "ignore" these games. You just have different tastes.

You post fails. I don't think you ever played Mass Effect. I got a full year of Live for 25 bucks, just check ebay.  You want the best games? Get a 360.
