Painful to watch indeed. I have a feeling that in 5 years, we will watch todays VR craze while cringing.

No need to wait, this awesome youtuber already has VR covered

^ this is why I dont think VR where you walk around and swing your arms will ever get mainstream tracktion.

(vive VR is gonna be a waste of money)

for VR to be a enjoyable experiance,  it needs to be only the head movement.

You need to be able to sit down and use the normal controller while in VR.

rofl

I can't believe ppl are wasting $500 on this

The damage control in the comments for the VR video is intense, LOL.

I cringed so much. It was painful to watch at the time but it's even worse watching it a second time over. It's a shame, Kinect had such potential but it was pushed beyond it's capabilities and as a result gained a poor reputation. I genuinely had good fun with Kinect, from Kinect adventures to ubisoft's fitness game and even voice options in Mass Effect.

For me, the kinect on XB1 genuinely enhances the OS experience but that's only the voice control side of things and IR blaster. If they make an XB 1.5 they should add a IR blaster and mic extension. The voice controls are for me, the best bits about Kinect. I loved the voice options in Mass Effect. I love being able to say 'Xbox On/Off' without touching a controller. I love being in the heat of gameplay and saying 'Xbox Record That/take a screenshot'. The voice stuff is genuinely useful and it's made special precisely because you don't need to hold the controller or use an in-ear/over-the-head mic. The camera stuff isn't really necessary.

OMG......

What I find really disturbing is that some people actually bought into this nonsense.

Actually, Kinect is pretty functional and fun if done properly. The problem is that developers don't want to waste money because the majority of players want to play same crap over and over again. Or is there really a difference between Fifa 2012 or Fifa 2016? Also, if Microsoft had had the price lower then I think we would be telling a different story today.

Oh boy. Those E3s (2009-2010) were the stuff haha.

I think Kinect isn't a bad idea, the problem is that it has to recognize 99.999% of your inputs immediately (and without any discernable delay) to feel as good as a controller and I doubt you can produce that at mass market prices with todays tech

There, there XBox fans. At least you only had to tolerate motion gaming for what? 4 years? Nintendo fans had it worse.

5:22. That's my cringe limit.
