And where is the Wii ?

It would be relevant if Nintendo had managed to hold any of the expanded casual Wii audience. They haven't been able to though. Without those casuals, their console position has been eroding like crazy.

Sorry that doesn't make any sense because if Nintendo didn't make so many mistakes with Wii U, Wii U would sold much better than GC, so I can say Wii U also is not relevant, but reality is that Wii and Wii U have same relevant. And yet some people keep acting like Wii never exist.

About question of this thread, I think it would be very hard to have lower sales numbers than Wii U even if Nintendo would want that from some reason. :)

The NX will outsell the Wii U for one reason huge reason. The NX is the successor to the 3DS, as well as the Wii U. A lot of Wii U games such as Mario Maker, 3D World, New Super Luigi U, and Tropical Freeze, are better suited to a handheld. The teams working on exclusive 3DS titles have done a lot better job than the teams working on the Wii U games. Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Poke'Mon and Link Between Worlds were all great 3DS games. The Wii U on the other hand has had dialed in disappointing renditions of franchises (at least for a console). The third party support for the 3DS includes Square Enix, Capcom, Level 5, and Atlus.

So long as there is a handheld model of the NX, for $200, that plays 90% of all NX games, then the NX will blow the Wii U out of the water.

Nintendo could screw it up though. They are already launching the NX in March (with Zelda as the only good launch game), which shows that they haven't learned from the terrible 3DS launch. They could overprice the NX at launch the same way they did with the Wii U and 3DS. They could have a terrible software drought early on, the same way that the 3DS had a terrible lineup of games until 2013 added all the good 3DS exclusives.

Yes, quite easily

Nope.

If the NX won't be able to outsell the WiiU then Nintendo should just give up. WiiU's sales are downright embarrassing.

That isn't really what drove Wii sales though.

GameCube arguably had an equal/better 1st year of Nintendo franchise software vs. the Wii (not counting the Wii casual fare):

Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Star Fox Adventures, Eternal Darkness, Wave Race: Blue Storm, NBA Courtside 2002

vs.

Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda: TP (GCN port), Super Paper Mario, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Fire Emblem, Excite Truck, Mario Party, Mario Strikers, Battallion Wars Wii

It's a wash at best, yet Wii had much higher sales.

I think NX must have some really appreciable new element about it. It doesn't have to be some casual chasing gimmick but it needs to be something that clearly differeniates it next to a PS4/XB1/Wii U. But unlike the Wii, they can't gimp the chipset, it needs to be powerful otherwise developers will not support it, it should be at minimum equal to the PS4 and upgradable perhaps to PS4.5 levels.

IMO the Gamecube was the best home console nintendo ever made.

Wii was by far the worst (excluding Virtual Boy), too many games ruined with waggle.

Also gamecube had Windwaker and the best version of Twilight Princess.

Meanwhile the Wii had.... Skyward Sword...

I would say N64 was probably the worst console. If you can name 10 other games than Mario 64 and OOT then you are probably better than most.

Meanwhile, I can name 10 games that were considered absolute masterpieces other than Galaxy and Skyward Sword.

So are you saying Skyward Sword was bad? Or good? I'm confused. Galaxy 1,2, and Xenoblade were masterpieces. X was pretty good, but kind of too big of a game for it's own good. If Nintendo made Galaxy 3, and went back to the MM/OoT/WW/TP days, then I would be a very happy man.

You're always very positive about the NX. Why would you think it will outsell the Wii U by a lot?

Sure it may happen. The Wii at least proves that point, but i haven't seen Nintendo learn lessons in doing better yet. Even a digital only NX won't do the trick by itself :p.

I'm not 100% positive on it. I'm just positive about the hardware and firmware because the picture Nintendo has painted about it since early 2014 has made it clear what it will look like, and that's going to make for a very foreward-thinking platform that I think will be evolutionary for how the world thinks about consoles, the same way smart phones changed the way the world thinks about phones.

I mean, digital only isn't the selling point. It's just the glue that keeps NX together.

The glue?...wait, you think the NX will be digital only?

As for the topic, I would certainly hope so, considering the WiiU is now an all time low for Nintendo home consoles....I mean, it better outsell the WiiU by a huge margin.

The NX launch might be the most crucial hardware launch Nintendo has ever done since launching the NES in the U.S. following the Atari crash, this time there may be no room for mistakes.
