Again, there is no way to prove anyone "identifies" as something they're not. That's why the whole thing is one big joke and won't last long.

1. It would actually be pretty easy to determine if someone has a history of identifying as the opposite gender. You ask the people in their lives. If you talk to a friend of family member of someone and go "How long have you known John?" and they respond with "Oh, you mean Jenny?" They're probably transgender.

2. If a situation is serious enough that there is legal action being taken. Then it's not going to matter why they went into the bathroom. If someone went into the womens bath room, and exposed themselves to other people or harrased someone or worse. It doesn't matter how they identify.

3. Won't last long? You think Target has just started allowing this? You think they were stopping transgendered people from using the bathroom of their choice before? I've worked at Target for 5 years and have met both customers and employees who are trans, and they always use the bathroom they identify with. The only thing new here is Target making it official policy. You should also know that pretty much every other major retailer opperates the same way. If you aren't causing an issue, they really don't give a shit which bathroom you use.

It's called a third "trans" bathroom. Problem solved.

In this case, they put the comfort of others (mainly parents) at risk just so these people can pretend they were born something they are not.

Fixed.

I am not one to propose anything that takes rights away from anyone. This is why I am against this entire thing. As a parent, I feel my 10 year old girl shouldn't have to share a bathroom with a 35 year old man. "Trans-gender" is just a softer way of saying "make believe". I feel sorry for these people because they're obviously living a trapped life where they feel they're something they're not. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes and I totally sympothize with that. But the reality of it is, they AREN'T a different gender. They feel they are, but they're not. You're either born a man, or you're born a woman. No amount of cutting, clothes, lip stick or backwards baseball caps will change that. Why should their infliction stomp all over everyone else's freedoms and comforts? Do we allow people with bi-polar the freedom to cuss out their bosses when they're manic? How about cops? Can a bi-polar person punch a cop when they're feeling a mood shift? No? Then we shouldn't force little girls to share bathrooms with grown men just so these people can continue pretending to be something they're not.

You've been going to the bathroom with gays, lesbians, bisexuals and trans people your whole life.

Tell me again how those genders signs on bathroom doors have prevented an assaults.

Then, why fight for the right to do something people already do?

Do trans people identify as trans? I thought they identified as male/female, just not their gender at birth...

Ooorrr we just continue to go about our daily lives...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

This is just ridiculous at this point. The men's room is tailored specifically to the biological male. As such, biological males ought use them. Ditto for biological females.

Never understood the urge to see someone taking a shit...

Yeah, unfortunately it's not like seeing someone laugh or vomit.  Whenever you see someone do those,  the urge to mimic said activities increases.  Never once have I saw someone taking a shit and thought to myself "Oh boy".

Sure, in an ideal world. But this isn't an ideal world.

Where does it end? What if someone identifies as being a fucking cat? Should they be able to demand a cat only bathroom? What if I indentify as being a vampire... should I demand a vampire only bathroom?

This whole "I can be whatever the hell I say I am and the world must bend to it" thing is gone too far. Sure, a person can "identify" as whatever, but that's where it should end. Forcing others into things they are uncomfrotable with is wrong in my opinion.
