Forums - Nintendo - Sonic Unleased is Appartly Headed to the Wii...

Of course there might be two different Sonic games in production again. One for the Xbox 360/PS3 (the one leaked) and another for the Wii.

thats one of the things i was saying... there might be a different Sonic just for Wii.

two different versions of the same game. different graphics. different control schemes. Same Game, Same Name(for marketing and hype reasons)

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I don't like it. I don't like any Sonic game after Sonic Adventure 2. I mean, it looks nothing like a Sonic game. The 2D/3D effect limits full freedom of standard 3D. Why the Egyptian theme? How does that connect with Sonic? When you visualize of a new, 3D Sonic game, does any of this come to mind? Would you think of the whole werewolf Sonic crap? Seriously? Werewolf Sonic? What is Sega thinking? It's not rocket science. Sega is awkwardly destroying Sega. They go out of their way, to bring new ideas in, that stray the series away farther away from its routes. If Sonic Xtreme was released, none of this would have happened. There are signs of Sonic, drifting away from its routes in the Adventure Sonic games, but those were still very good.

Heroes is what confirmed the chain reaction. Why can't it be like Super Mario 64? Why does Sonic look different? What happened to the Sonic-feel? Where's the magic? It's gone. Why are there humans? Why are the robots humanoid? Why are there RPG sequences throughout the games? Why are there so many characters we don't want to play? Who is Silver? Why do I care? Why does Silver look like an owl, and sound like Chucky Cheese, high on crack? Why does Shadow need guns, and drive a truck? It makes as much sense as Super Man flying a plane. Who is Elise? Why can't she go back to Final Fantasy where she came from? Why does she exist? Why does Sonic and the Secret Rings resemble nothing of a Sonic game? When you think of Sonic, you think of sparkles, palm trees, oceans, robotic animals, checkered grounds, speed, platforming, Sonic, and Tails. You don't think of humans, humanoid robots, werewolf Sonic, Egypt, or any of that other stuff. When you play Mario platform games, they feel like the 2D ones, in 3D. Why can't Sonic be like that? Sonic should traverse through a 3D digital playground like Super Mario 64, but faster.

Just forget it. I don't even care anymore. Well, I do, but I don't want to. Sonic is dead to me. Nintendo should take over, or something. I don't like the new 2D Sonic games. I don't like the new 3D Sonic games Sonic games. Why? Because it's Sonic. It feels like Sonic. It looks like Sonic. It sounds like Sonic. When you visualize a 3D Sonic game, you should see segments from Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Jam, Sonic 3D Blast, and Sonic Xtreme, minus all the crap from those games. Nothing else. Sorry, but it consistantly annoys me when a new Sonic game comes out, and it turns out to be totally opposite of what I visioned. Sonic just angers me now. I literally get angry when I play these new Sonic games, because I keep seeing these flaws, and they annoy me like dead pixels, or dust, trapped beneath an LCD screen, that awkwardly diluted perfect ideas, and just ruin the game. If all the crap was trimmed out of these Sonic games, I would appreciate the games more, because they wont be so diluted with crap like RPG segments.

For examply, Sonic Adventure 2 could have deleted all of those Tails/Eggman, Rouge/Knuckles levels, and with less development time, create more Sonic levels, and turn all the Shadow levels into Sonic levels. They go out of their way to add these things that we don't want into the Sonic games. I mean, if they removed all the Amy, Big, Knuckles levels from Sonic Adventure, we could have had about 2-3 more Sonic levels. I just don't understand the logic. Sonic Adventure has perfect segments of what a true 3D Sonic game should be, but diluted it with crap, and glued crap onto it, with bull shit like RPG segments, which slow the game down, and characters we wished never existed. It's like painting the Mona Lisa, and then splashing a bucket of black paint, covering a large portion of the painting.

Hopefully, they won't be different games with the same name (a la Kool Aid Man).

But I must agree with those who believe that this game is coming to the Wii. Sega seems to have finally stopped being stupid. Plus Sonic is selling on the Wii and not on the other consoles. The gamers who remember Sonic being good are not the gamers playing 360s and PS3s. They are playing Wiis. And there is nothing to indicate that the graphics would overly tax the little white box.

Finally, just remember there is a bias toward the "hardcore" consoles. Xplays list of big games coming out includes Fable 2 and an arcade fighter (Street Fighter 5) but nothing for the Wii. The review editor who was canned at Gamespot (Jeff Gustaman) was famous for giving a lowish score to a Zelda game and has done the same thing to SSBB at his new website. Need I go on. ...

It doesn't matter if Sonic is selling well. That means nothing. Movie games can sell well. When was the last time a Sonic game got reviews over 90%? When? The Sonic games aren't Sonic games. They stray too far from the original series. You can't just make a random game, and plop Sonic in it, and call it a Sonic game. Take Sonic out, and you would never have guessed that these, newer games were Sonic games. None of them resemble what is Sonic. Sonic games, in the past, were not about Sonic running really fast. They had a certain, magical personality to them, and these newer Sonic games lack what made Sonic good. If you don't agree with me, please explain, and don't start bashing my posts, because you may not understand them.

SEGA would have to be extremely stupid not to make a Wii version. It makes no business sense to not put it on your best selling platform. Oh wait, this is SEGA, who managed to badly botch both the Saturn and the Dreamcast. SEGA, who nearly went bankrupt.

So in the end, though logic says to put it on Wii, it wouldn't surprise me if SEGA screws it up again. I think it's likely to be on Wii, but being SEGA, it wouldn't surprise me if they somehow messed it up.

I don't care much anymore though. Sonic Team has collapsed. They couldn't make the jump to 3D. Sonic Adventure 2 was the last GOOD game they made, let alone great one.

Sonic Team didn't make SA2. Or Shadow or Sonic 06.

It's amazing how they get bashed for games they didn't even do. They've actually done very little with Sonic in 3D.

Of course there might be two different Sonic games in production again. One for the Xbox 360/PS3 (the one leaked) and another for the Wii.

If that's the case then there are 2 Sonic games in the works for the Wii, Unleashed and a new exclusive, because it's already been well established by the leakers that this is a Wii game.

@Fazz

What you're talking about I think supports my original theory that Sonic Unleashed was built for the Wii with the PS360 versions getting 'souped up' graphics. Yes, the textures are pretty but the landscapesare nothing overly complicated. This isn't even taking into account the Secret Rings gameplay and the 2.5D that goes right along with sideways Wiimote play.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

according to VGCharts game database there's currently 8.06M Wii games that've been sold that contain Sonic - with him in the limelight once again anyone who believes their wont be a Wii version is a fool.

Sega made a statement recently stating that anyone who dismisses the Wii and doesn't take it serious is stupid then a video gets leaked of a new game containing their mascot that has only seen success recently on this platform.

It will be on the Wii although this leaked version isn't it.

Sonic in 3D sucks. The only good Sonic games were Sonic 1 and 2.

I believe nothing until it's been confirmed (way too many rumors nowadays to take any seriously). Still, if Sega decides not to put their next Sonic game on the Wii, that would be the single dumbest decision of the generation so far (in a generation full of stupid things). Here's four reasons why Sonic will probably show up on the Wii:
