Forums - Nintendo - Another sign that the Wii U is done - My local Gamestop got rid of its demo Wii U last week!

Mine recently got rid of the Wii U display for the Vive VR thing

The signs will only become more frequent and obvious. This E3 will be the nail in the coffin.

Weird. My Gamestop still has it.

One piece of anecdotal evidence is not enough to show the Wii U is on its way out. However, I guarantee you many other GameStop stores are probably doing this as well. The Wii U has been out for almost 3.5 years and has poor sales for a major home console, so it is safe to say many stores think it is a waster of space.

I expect NX to be playable during e3 at best buys.

Sweden (City of 150 000 inhabitants):
Since the end of the 7th generation allmost everything gaming related has disappeared from supermarkets. Other media - DVDs, Music (Best-Of-Compilations) and books still have their space.

In the electronics stores gaming has gone from center position with demo kiosks to being pushed to the unattractive corner with a lot less space. Nintendo still holds a place but Wii U & 3DS combined have the space that Playstation and Xbox have each (i.e. one shelf of 5 meters /16 feet). 3DS has a demo kiosk in one store and in the other there are kiosks for Wii U, XB1 and PS4.

In the Gamestop shop (there is only one in town since the end of 7th gen) a third of the space is dedicated to toys, dolls, Amiibos, Minecraft-toys and other non-game related stuff. Nintendo still has a small shelf there but mostly it is PS3/PS4/X360/XB1 trade-in games.

My town's MediaWorld almost always keeps one demo unit for each current gen platform, including Wii U, but they are almost never working, they turn them all on around Xmas, and some more times in the year, if some big game is launched, just the PS4 (more than one year ago they still did it outside of Xmas period for big Ninty games on DS3 and Wii U too, but not recently). Didn't check GameSpot lately, but they have three small shops here and the last time I passed by they just had a PS4 and a XBOne demo units (but at least when they have them they are always working, at MW OTOH they look like they don't care at all).

The real question is.... what did they do with them? About to go dumpster diving
