Do you guys even know how much power is required to run 4K on a AAA game, a few indies 2d might run on 4k on PS4 at 30fps. So unless the NX is going to be 4 or 5 times as strong as the PS4 I would say no freaking way.

Basically this, NX needs to be stronger at least 3x than PS4 to be able to run AAA game at 4k resolution. I can't believe some people even consider possibility of 4k Pikmin 4 on NX.

it could help - and it would be great but 4k xclusive for Pikmin...mmmh not sure.

Games like Rayman Adventures, Tales of Monkey Island, Infinity Blade 3, Real Racing 3 and many others are way above "PS1-level graphical fidelity" and run perfectly fine even on iPads in native 2048x1536 resolution.

Modern consoles should have no problem to play these games in native 4K.

While of course I was embellishing to make a point, those games wouldn't exactly measure up to the standards of say Uncharted 4 and the like. That's what I'm getting at.

Another example: the Zelda-like "Oceanhorn is coming to PS4" soon:

It looks nice and runs great in 2048x1536 on an iPad Air 1. I'm sure that the PS Neo would have no problems to run it in native 4K.

That... looks nice? You've been playing Nintendo games far too long if you think that is graphically taxing in any way.

It is NOT graphically taxing, but looks nice anyways. That's the point.

Games that only use the fraction of the power in 1080p could be displayed in 4K with a HDMI2.0-console.

Trine 1 - 3 would be another example.

Well that's swell. Games with PS2 level graphical complexity needlessly displayed at 4K because why not? What a world we live in where this sounds appealing to some people. I mean why bother with HD remakes when we really need to do is just bump up the resolution so the simplicity of the 3D models looks glaringly obvious!

You do realize that you continue to prove my point right? That only games with a very light rendering load will be able to be run at 4K, and those types of games represent a tiny fraction of the games console owners play, which again, makes it pretty pointless.

Precisely this; building more expensive 4k-capable hardware for the sake of a few glaringly simple games with rather niche appeal would be a ridiculous decision, both from an artisitc and an economical point of view.
