sc94597 does this, over 2000 posts and probably around 200 threads in 2 months. I don't think a day has gone by that he hasn't created a pointless thread.

I think Leo may have been taking a little advantage of it, but I forgive him because he is just trying to get out of debt
which he now has it seems.
I think I have only made 3-4 threads since the start of VG$, which is about what I usually do.

| DKII said: I have two possible suggestions to combat this problem. 1) No vg$ for starting threads in the off-topic forum. 2) If your thread is locked you lose twice as much vg$ as you gained for starting it. Discuss. ;> |
Sure, as long as when a thread is locked there's a mod stating why it's locked and it's not just phantom locked like more than half of all locked threads are.
Also someone else already pointed out the whole other people getting it locked = you losing money. THEY should lose money, not you. I'm more for charging you X VG$ for starting and hoping to make it back by it being a popular and content filled thread.
Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm still trying to understand this VG$ concept, but these threads aren't as bad as come you might find on other sites like gamefaqs for example. The PS3 hardward board there is flooded with next-gen/HD war threads and you can get instantly labeled as fanboy/loyalist just for stating your likes or preferences towards one party or another. From browsing through these threads its not as bad.

I think the forums slow enough as it is. just let it be and use the power you hold to not click on crap.

Most of the threads that I've saw locked were locked for very obvious reasons. No need for a handwritten letter and apology from the mods for moderating.

the name leo-j comes to mind...
I start the odd pointless thread, but i do try to make them meaningful.
The thing is though, everyone has their own opinions on what's fine and what isn't. By stating WHY a thread is closed, it gives people that post in the thread, or read the thread some closure.
Mods don't need to apologize for closing a thread, I just feel it should just be common courtesy to at least state why it was closed. Kind've like ban reasons. Some people don't care, some people want to know why. *shrug*
Problems:
If we make you spend money to create threads, then no one will create threads, they will just post all their spam up threads that are actually having an intelligent discussion.
If we make locking a thread, that'll cause an uproar any time a thread gets locked because two jackasses unrelated to the original poster got into a flaming match.
If we make a minimum post amount before topics can be started, that'll just make people less likely to join, and the people who do join will be more likely to spam up threads so they can post their own spam topics.
