the only thing Metroid related that I expect to see this year other than Federation Force is a small teaser/announcement that states something along the lines of "Yes, we are working on a Metroid game, we'll sooner or later gona release it but we can't say anything about it right now because development has started only a few months ago..."

It's probably Federation Force for the NX handheld, not a new console Metroid in the vein of the Prime series.

It's unkown but various sources such as Liam Robertson stated that it's very likely that Retro isn't working on a Metroid game...
