No chance. There hasn't been a mainline Final Fantasy game on a Nintendo home console for 20 years. The NX is coming in mid-generation competing against a userbase of well over 60 million(PS4 and Xbox 1). Nintendo's last home console was a flop. Third party titles tend to sell much lower on Nintendo consoles compared to Xbox and Playstation. Even Square's Western/US flavored titles like Hitman skip Nintendo's consoles and the US is Nintend biggest market. Do I need to go on?

Even then, if NX is successful, and remember here that successful dosent mean 100 million units lifetime sold, it will get games from everyone. If NX sells, it dosent matter if the last console was a flop, or if FF hasnt been at a Nintendo home console for 1000 years(this argument is so flawed by the way) or even the mythos that third party sells bad in Nintendo consoles. If NX succeeds, they will get it.

I understand and totally agree with you IF we look at those individual factors taken in isolation. However when combined, it does not really paint a pretty picture. Nintendo's relations with 3rd party developers has been terrible since at least the Nintendo 64(and only just bad on the SNES) when they were charging exorbitant royalties for publishers per cartridge.

The Wii sold well over 100 million units, and yet, did not see a single mainline Final Fantasy. So the notion of "if the NX sells, it will get it" is far from being an absolute truth. I could understand if you said "if the NX is powerful enough and garners a large enough userbase, then it will get it", but you didn't say that :P

But hey, I could be very wrong on this one, just my opinion on the subject.

Hey, you understood what I meant!

Just as a side note: SNES had great third party support. Many of the best games of all time comes from it, and many are not from Nintendo.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well I am. This is such a flemsy arguemeny and you know it. They would have had to build the game from the ground up entirely again to get XIII to run on it. But I think two Crystal Chronicle games, and the Dragon Quest games appearing on it shows how invested S-E was with the Wii. If it is easy to port to I'm not even entirely sure it will need a huge userbase. It would in a way help to reach that 10 million goal by putting it on the NX, and if they want that bad enough they'll do it (just like it coming to PC).

I'm pretty certain it will.

And for more than the extensive Final Fantasy-Nintendo fanservice that's been creeping up lately.

Personally, I think FFXV was very early on an animus for Nintendo to start developing the NX platform. Nintendo naturally wanted it on WiiU, but when Square's earnest feedback said "not possible" and the WiiU platform began to falter, Nintendo made a dedicated effort to provide a platform that could be ported quickly *and* provide the best version of this game. Nintendo knew that if they could accomplish that with FFXV, they could feasibly get any other 3rd party game that's under development at the time for NX.

So naturally as the NX platform emerged, FFXV this whole time has been a sandbox for demonstrating and benchmarking the NX's capability.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Sure - it's prognostication :)

However ask yourself. Do you think Nintendo, when developing the NX aspired it to support AAA games like those on PC/PS4/X1? And besides possibly Zelda U, XCX, or whatever Retro Studios is working on, had any titles of their own of that scale to test out those AAA waters? If they asked for help on something like that - who would the most likely turn to?

If the WiiU scored ports of large-scale AAA games like Arkham City, AC3, and Mass Effect for it's very protracted launch, could the NX as a more thoughtfully laid out platform get a FFXV port? Absolutely.

No I can't see it happening. I don't think the nx is going to sell very well to be fair, maybe the same as the Wii U

Can't deny that XD

Talking about FFXV certainly how easy it is for SE to port it to NX is key to know if they'll port it or not on the console, but other than that I'd consider also the fact that ZombiU, a title totally different from standard Nintendo games, managed to sell about 1M copies on Wii U despite it's small userbase, and that's only because of the fact that it was bundled at launch with Wii U, so SE might want to do the same with FFXV on NX (since NX is 99% likely to release after the 30th of September) since wether the console is succesful or not beeing one of the first titles released on it and beeing available in bundle would make for great sales (it'd certainly make up for the costs of a standard porting) considering that Nintendo fans are more used to RPGs than Action games similar to ZombiU...

But do you think a better port could come next year being that is the time the PC version will likely release (as well as an updated version for the PS4k will likely also release around the same time if the PS4k is indeed a real thing).
