Forums - Gaming - Why didnt Sega get the backlash MS does?

Different era, plus most of the SEGA games that came to PC were ported later on rather than released simultaneously as their Genesis / Saturn counterparts.

Plus as I remember there were also several PlayStation "exclusives" likeMetal Gear Solid, FFVII and VIII, and the RE games that received PC ports after their initial PS1 releases, and even some N64 console exclusives like the Turok series and SW Shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron that also received PC ports.  This didn't deter from the fact that these games were all associated with and had their biggest success on their respective consoles.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Sega PC games were generally awful ports far inferior to the console versions.

With some few Exceptions, Third party games are not better than Exclusives, this is because they focus on what will sell consoles, the Exclusives, and work just in 1 Version,  you can only attain such Quality when you are working just for the Game, and don't have to worry to port the game for others Plataforms.

And about your comment up there, the Price is important, but isn't All, they don't purchased PS4, because was Cheaper, is because of the Games, and Exclusives as well, PS3, sold more than Xbox 360, in the same time, and was Twice the Price, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, and Demon Souls, helped it to sell, you can see the jump that Hardwares have when Exclusives come out, the Games are what sell consoles, and if is exclusive for 1 Plataform, this sell more Consoles.

And, other reason that the PS4, is selling so much is  because the console is the Main Standart for Third Party Developers, the console receive more support, than Xbox One, and Wii U, and is all thanks to its Install-Base, and the Install-base, is thanks to Sony's Decision to stay as a Traditional Home Console, with Exclusives, without any Mandatory, while Xbox One, was launching games for PC, had a Aways Online Mandatory, and was 500US$ because of Kinect.

The Wii U, have good Exclusives, but the console don't sell because only launch 1 Game each 2-3 Months, and have a Poor name that confuse consumers, while PS4, for example, have a lot of Exclusives, and a lot of Third Party Support.

Sorry but I do not think the PS4 sold more (esp. at first) because of exclusives. Not at all. Of course we could argue about it for month tho. But in my oppinion the PS4 sold better because it was just cheaper and also more powerfull to a certain extend. Then they got the support of third parties (because of the user base). This is not the thread to argue about that anyway.

My point reminds the same (and this is what the OP is about). There is no backlash going on and I do not believe the majority of Xbox One owners have any problem with that  and only the internet and a lot of people not interrested in the Xbox One at first are making this big :)

Even Crapy Gamer, was mad about this, a lot of Xbox's Owners as well, but this will not stop Xbox One, of selling, but it will sell much less than it would if all the games made by Microsoft, were exclusives.

What is crappy gammer? And how it/he represents the majority of the Xbox One community? :)

Yah, some Xbox One gamers are unhappy for an unknown reason to me about it, that's for sure. But I could not see the majority being pissed at it.

Around the Network

The anonimity the internet provides exposes a lot of bitter people, not just in gaming. A lot of noteworthy PS1 games saw PC releases too back in the day, like FF7, Tomb Raider etc.

Difference is both Sony and Sega had constant streams of amazing games that no one cared where they ended up. Xbone so far has seen a lot of software droughts, it doesn't get many exclusives, it gets 1 or 2 games when it's "The Season" and then they end up on PC so I kinda understand why some are upset. And the decision to move their games to PC stems from the fact that the console isn't performing well. MS also doesn't seem to be fully committed to PC, what with the UWP thing and saying not all Xbone games will be coming over.

Tbh I just don't care about the Xbox anymore, not even worthy of a backlash. It's been a complete fiasco for me, the og Xbox was like a new Dreamcast, the early years of 360 were amazing, and then came Kinect. It's the worst line-up in Xbox history for me, there's only 2 games that I want from the console(Sunset Overdrive, Scalebound) which is a shame being 3-4 years on the market when the latter game releases.

People making a fuss about Xbox games going to PC are the same people that just dont want Xbox competing with Sony and Nintendo.

Frankly there is no proof putting console games on PC hurts consoles. The audience is a very different market for the most part.

Given how often MicroSony makes deals with publishers for "console exclusive" versions of their games, one could easily argue there is a lot more evidence that the overlap in the two markets is a hell of a lot smaller than people make it out to be in these doom and gloom threads.

The idea that gamers who already own the console are pissed that games are coming to PC is equally baffling to me. I mean.. we already own the console, why do we care that other games are going to PC?

You can't compare the 90's with now.
A PC was way way wayyyy more expensive, and the controllers were crap.

This isn't it, Companies launch console Exclusives for a lot of Reasons, and Launch on PC/Console, is better for the console than launch for Pc/Console/OtherConsole, they just don't want that, look at Left 4 Dead, Alan Wake, and other games that went to PC, they sold nearly the same, and some times even more than their console's Counter part, of course they would have sold more Consoles, if the game was Exclusive.
