Forums - Gaming - Digital Foundry vs Final Fantasy XV Platinum demo

Nintendo proves that a game can be 720p but still look amazing.

Absolutely unacceptable. Framerates should be locked at 30.

It is not. Plenty of great games hit 15fps in certain areas and are still concidered masterpieces.

It's not my problem people don't approiately use the word masterpeice.

Especially when people call the Five Nights at Freddy's series masterpieces.

Cringes

900p and sub-30FPS is absolutely pathetic ...

Hopefully the PC version will come in less than half a decade ...

- Dynamic resolution on both consoles.

- PS4 runs at 900p most of the time, 1080p in some less-demanding scenes, and 1568x882 at lowest.

- X1 runs at 792p most of the time, 1568x882 at best, and 1360x768 at lowest.

- Both have significant drops below 30fps, with X1 suffering more heavily, and both consoles hitting around 15fps during the demo's final boss.

Hopefully some very extensive optimization takes place before its release.

That seems like a substantially larger res discrepancy than usual. So while PS4 might not improve much (except perhaps for 900p to be the base res) I expect Xb one should perhaps make that 882 it's most frequent res, with not many dips below. But I hope the most important performance improvement is 30fps locked with no dropped frames or screen tear. consistent fps most important for a strictly SP game.

I think the game graphically looked terrible at times, blurry scenes, jaggies and low res textures everywhere. I would expect it to be a rock solid 30fps or higher with the current visuals. Not really good enough to be honest, it kinda killed my hype for the game but no doubt they will improve its performance come release.

people are fascinating.

a console costing more than 400/500 "what!?!? too expensive, FUUUUUUUUUUU"

"what!? my great looking, open world, massively long RPG has framerate drops to sub 30fps in certain demanding scenes? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

the irony, if it wasn't so amusing sometimes it would be just sad

Given what we've seen both in this demo and in Duscae, I doubt that resolution will see much of a change beyond maybe making 900p and 792p the minimum baselines.

It's the framerate that I'd be more concerned about, as both this game and Duscae can drop below 20fps when shit gets busy. September isn't that far off. Maybe it needs to be delayed.

Looking at the video, it seems to drop an awful lot during scenes that don't look all that demanding at all.

Agreed, "breaking visual fidelity boundaries on console hardware" my ass ...

Maybe it was true about two gens ago but now their current technical showcase is marred with poor texture filtering and somewhat shoddy anti-aliasing along with the poor performance to boot ...

There should be no excuse as to why the game should not be at LEAST a solid 30FPS ...

Witcher 3 looks and runs better.
Se is a mess after the great ps2 days
