Forums - Sony - What is so bad about keeping all your games and peripherals, just to upgrade the box (PS4 to PS4.5)?

4 Years is way too short for the modern console. Sony's never done it, microsoft did it once but then took 9 years. And Nintendo even took 6 years between Wii and Wii U, and 5 years on their 'failed' Gamecube.

Why are we doing a gap from Nintendo to Sony? That's like saying that 0.5 of a generation is 1 year because of wii u to ps4..

 

Modern consoles as I said in my previous post should not be 4 years let alone 3 years as the slims of PlayStations always release in the 3rd year. If it's a normal slim with a little boost, fine but If it's significantly more powerful 'wiiu to xb1' then there is a problem

Playstation 3 was a Exception, is 5-6 Years a generation for Sony, the Playstation 3, was avaliable for 7 Years before the next console, not 8, the Average is 6, this is 20% bigger than 5 years, and 6.5 Years is 30% Bigger, not 75%.

Unless your PS4 is broken or dying there's no need to buy another plus the whole point of a console is it see's u through the entire gen. I went through 5 Xbox 360's and 3 PS2's console's are expensive i hope this rumour is false or doesn't have PS4.5 only games.

For me, as long as they're no exclusive games to the new machine, I'm good with it.

PS4k, because you'll end up spending $4k by the end of this gen.
My concern is I'm not made of money. Same reason I avoid peripherals, upgrades, Amiibo...

I dunno. I've bought handheld upgrades, I upgrade my PC, so I do it already. Personally, I wouldn't be interested in a 4.5 version with just a resolution and framerate upgrade.

I would stop buy console and go PC only. but anyway i think its just slim with 4k movie nothing more.

The most likely theory at the moment is, it's a regular PS4, with a little bit of extra oomph allowed from chip progression. And then having 4K output for 4K Blu-ray playback etc as standard. Goes with Sony's thing of being the cheapest device on the market. As if they get a 4K PS4 out for the current PS4 price, it will be about £200 cheaper than the cheapest 4K Blu-ray player is going to be.

As I said with Xbox 1.5...

As long as all games are compatible with the original hardware, I don't care if they make another box.

I like another more powerful box being an option for better resolution, frame rate, etc.
