Japanese food to western food? Very interesting analogy, Aonuma. That sounds pretty exciting.

Sounds like Aonuma is trying to say Zelda U will have some modern day western concepts, which is a good thing for an open world game.

I think the same, but according to Neogaf, it's just a analogy of how much it will change the game, but honestly, I'm expecting a western influence.

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I'm not quite sure if hyping this game a lot would help it when it comes out, because now I'm expecting something so groundbreaking that I don't know if it will lead to dissapointment, even if it'll be a great game. OoT was something else when it came out, and I'm not sure if the impact could be the same, but let's see. Just show the damn game.

"I had to work on text today, too,”

"I think we’ll be able to make ‘something new’"

Man, stop lying.

Does this mean the game will be influenced by Western games or am I reading too much into what he said???

Have a nice day...

Of course that's what he means, but that isn't necessarily all he means. He specifically choose this analogy, which says something in itself. My interpretation is that the game will be different because of the new western flavor of the game.

Yup, the Western food/Japanese food comp is significant. Sounds like Zelda Wii U is going to be the most un-Zelda 3D Zelda we've gotten. I love the 3D Zelda formula, but I'm definitely willing to give this (whatever it is) a shot.

OoT has only been replicated twice, WW and TPHD. And Wind Waker barely escapes it. But I agree 100% with him. It's good to change but the Japanese to Western analogy scares me a bit.

I hope it has a sense of freedom like the original NES Zelda, or even somewhat like ALTTP or ALBW. A large focus on combat, minimal annoying and boring story sequences (these are awful in TP, which I just replayed), and a lot of challenge. I hope their open-world inspiration is more derivative of the Souls games rather than something very boring like Skyrim or the Witcher.

With an open-world design, I hope there are plenty of optional areas/dungeons to help make the world feel more alive. Again, just like Dark Souls 1. I didn't need to go to the optional areas, but I did, and they were glorious and satisfying.
