I was wrong about that, I'll admit.  Though, this is highly exaggerated. all Amiibo DLC currently is nothing but a neat feature that'll barely make an impact on the game

I think where the OP loses his argument is by saying it's the worst thing that happened this generation! Very dramatic much I would say... What he fails to mention is that Nintendo isn't forcing people to buy new amiibo to get this ability if you already have a kirby amiibo. I would imagine that most Nintendo fans probably already collected most of the Nintendo characters that they like. So all of the amiibo they already own can be used across multiple games.

Buying one physical collectible dlc figurine that can be used across multiple games is definitely not the worst thing to happen this generation by far! I have a WiiU and no Amiibo whatsoever and it doesn't effect me playing any of the games that I own. If anything Nintendo as a whole has been a breath of fresh air when it comes to dlc and updating their games for free well after the release. Just look at the value one gets in a fighting game such a SmashBros vs SFV, no comparison really.

It's just that it's Nintendo and they can never seem to do anything right in the "hardcore" gamers eye. Nintendo has their faults and need to work on many things, but I wouldn't put this as high on the priority list right now as things to fix. I just recently read someone wanting to go in on Nintendo about the rumor of Foxconn possibly seeing a spike in business because of NX coming soon. The poster went on a rant to make it seem as though Nintendo is the only company to use Foxconn and was totally uninformed that Sony, Apple and many other big electronic corporations have and continue to use this manufacturing plant for their products, despite their poor working conditions and standards.

well, you sure took that the wrong way. first off, i dont know how you missed Kirby using his copy ability the way he normally does earlier in the direct trailer. so it isnt going away and being locked behind an amiibo. the amiibo is meant to be a convinience- dont have an ability? just tap the amiibo and get one. or you can get an ability manually by eating enemies. you probably took that the wrong way and if you just go back and rewatch the trailer, you will see that the only feature locked away is the one UFO copy ability, which is completely new to the series, and a costume that will not affect the game in any way.

aand for that last bit about needing to buy the extra accessory, well you just have to deal with that. its a $10 accessory.

Locking on-disc content behind under-supplied plastic figurines is Konami levels of despicable. Not all of us give a fuck about collecting toys, we just want to be able to access all the content in the game we payed full price for.

It's stupid but I don't care so far. It has potential to be terrible but they haven't locked anything I care about. I haven't bought an amiibo and i don't plan to. The games feel very complete without them.

It's just the new DRM. Disk, cartridge, always online, account, etc. pick your poison for the way companies battle piracy. They are trying new and different ways to make sure they get paid.

Plus some people like to collect cute little toys. It might be the next beanie babies.

Out of all the absolute shit practices that have come along this past several years, from DLC locking entire parts of games, or releasing games with very little content, or releasing the skeleton of the game and expecting gamers to pay basically full price many times over with DLC "updates" to unlock the ACTUAL content of the game.........you're going to complain about collectible figures that have (at most) usually very minor content tied to them if you scan them in?
