Forums - Nintendo - Developer “Guarantees” that “Nintendo NX Won’t Have Third-Party Support”

Although I'd be very open to this changing, you can be sure that major third parties receive the dev kits a long time before the indie devs get to see them. There are certainly enough rumours that major third parties such as Activision and EA already have dev kits for the NX

Yes, but how many are still in talks for what they are going to bring (just like EA), exclusive deals, ect. Is this going to be another Wii U release, where there is only time enough to bring out old ports no one is going to care about.

Just because they are talking strategy over games doesn't mean that EA hasn't been doing anything with the dev kits. If rumor is true they were among the first to have them. Its not like they're gonna start developing on them now after the march advertising meeting.

Will it be something worthwhile though.

At the very least it'll be as much as they did with Wii U. A Madden ad Fifa for sure. Maybe PvZ. Either way it won't be like it'll be super hard to port to NX if Nintendo went x86.

But they should have had more cross gen earlier this gen as well. At least another year of it. Hell, there are even games coming out on PS3 (Street Fighter V) right now, and that architecture was supposedly a nightmare to develop for.

I do not believe that a console NX is coming out this year.

Right now I've said that, let me move onto part 2, when a new console is early in its life, the only companies that get to see/hear about dev kits are the big developers, indies do not. If as I believe the console wont be out until say 2017, then there is no way Nintendo will be telling all info about the console to an indie developer who has no background with them.

So I don't see any issue with this right now. Now if the console releases in the next 6 months then I'll take it back.

Hmm. I really hope there is a plan behind all of that

I am not surprised.

Any independent developer would immediately leak or sell the information because they need money.

It was a nightmare.... in 2006. There's 10 years of familiarity now.

If youre relying on third party support for your purchase of a Nintendo console at this point, you must have a very bad memory. Nintendo will never have the support that Sony and MS has. Never ever.
