A couple things to consider: Ono stated back in 2013 that there was no money to develop SFV preceding the late 2014 announcement that the game was under development as a co-development partnership with SCE.

What that sounds like is that SCE helped back the game, which otherwise wouldn't have been developed, hence the console exclusivity.

I can't help but wonder if Capcom wouldn't have been better off marketing the game as a pre-release for tournament players rather than as an incomplete retail game with updates pending as there is low value for non-competition players to jump in during the initial wave for any reason other than to be a part of that initial wave of SFV players. This is a game that will very likely be supported for years after all.

He said they dontnhave the resources to bring SSFIV to next gen, which people simply assumed (incorrectly) that it must also mean no money for SFV. He said SFV would be 2018 at the earliest given their resources. Clearly Sony money sped that up. But the game was coming either way.

And i have seen people saying you get everything they release for your $60 investment.. thats not true. They have said there are premium things coming that require real money.

I am thinking the premium content starts with cosmetic items and costumes, then later extends to new characters.

No, they said that you can get all the Characters for Free, the History mode costumes, are only avaliable with In-game Money, and Premium costumes, are only avaliable with Real Money, you can get any Fighter, Chacarcter with 100 Thousands Fighting Money.

You get 10 Thousands per character when finish the Story mode of a character.

And 1 Thousand each time you level up a Character.

You also get Money when make Ranked Battles, but i don't know how much do you get, and 6 Characters will be coming for Street Fighter, 1 each 2 Months, so this isn't enought to you get 100 Thousands Fighting Coing to get a Character ?.

I Don't get why Microtransation with the Possibility of earning the character with In-game Coin, is so bad, this is the same as other games like Forza, Gran Turismo, League of Legends, is better have the possibility to purchase the characters with In-game Money, because the ones that Play  the Game, will have a Fair Battle, agaist someone that just Throw Money on the Game.

Edit: Seems that when you finish the Survival Mode on the Normal Mode, with a Character, you get 10 Thousands of Fighting Money per Character, so you can get the money to purchase the DLC Characters, before they are out.

It's pretty crazy to think that SFIV could have seen tournament and update support for a full ten years had 2018 been the actual release date.

The relative confusion over what people think they're buying when they buy SFV seems to be the biggest area of contention. I can understand some being upset if they think what we have before the first update is it, but I see bigger problems if people think conversely that they are buying into free updates all around as they are released. The fact that season passes were being sold on release day for an additional $30 should have made things pretty clear.

And for that very reason (DLC shenanigans) I have avoided all three Forza games this gen, even amazing ones like Horizon 2 and FM6. I passed on GT6, will pass on GT7 if they also commit to DLC shenanigans. League of Legends is a F2P game and doesn't warrant comparison to the other games you listed.

People are not cool with F2P elements being introduced into retail games because they never end well. The very nature of their existence is to make it harder for gamers to unlock things naturally and entice them to spend real money instead. Not everyone is cool with that.

It's better to have the option to pay to unlock the character? Eh.. I disagree. And shouldn't quality balancing ensure people have a "fair battle"? Not to mention, someone who plays the game will be better than someone who just pays to unlock stuff anyway. That's another reason the design of SFV makes no sense. It's not a FPS or strategy game where F2P elements can give you an advantage. They just want you to fork over some money.

This is pretty helpful info.

I can't help but think these transaction exchange rates should be in the game itself.

I'm curious as to what I'll be able to unlock character wise by the time the first character pack is released.

I certainly hope it under-performed, if not outright bombed. Love the series, not a fan of the engine from IV and V, but, much less of a fan of unfinished products being released to the market. Especially when it's one of the pivotal titles in the pantheon of fighting games.

I won't be getting it for at least 3 months, or whenever I feel like it's a full title, and worth the asking price.

I agree. WTF were they thinking by not having modes that existed in Street Fighter II back in 1991? Not even a standard arcade mode... I'm glad they got flack for it.

Give it time bro, the game came out two weeks ago.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

I've completed character story modes, Survival on easy with all the characters and on Normal with one. I have about 245k banked so far. That's enough to unlock 2 new characters and a costume.

Winning fights ranked or casual earns you 50 fight money. That means you got to grind to earn extra. However, with that you get 1000FM every time you level up, you get extra FM on daily challenges when they release and each new character can again earn tons extra FM through their story and survival modes.

It's not too much of a grind and I prefer it to buying updates or being only given the option of paying for it. This new system allows me to buy a Base model, earn new free characters if I want to and pay for stuff I can't be bothered to grind for.

Best. Street Fighter. Ever!

You are all missing out.
