The free version had one rotating character. $20 version had 5 characters at launch. No story mode at all. That was added in Season 2 which was additional $20. There is no way to earn free content in KI. Any new characters require players to spend real money.

SFV's lack of content is a legitimate complaint. Comparing it to KI weakens your argument. Pointing to MKX would be the way to go. Capcom essentially released a half finished game to meet the start of the tournament season. While I'm having great fun with the game, the lack of single player content is inexcusable. If you're a hardcore fan, pick it up now. If you are a casual fan. I'd wait until the free cinematic story update in June.

You were the one comparing it to KI... and I was the one saying you couldn't really compare the 2 because one was free and 20$ to get the full game instead of 60$

You're right I did initiate the comparison. That said you didn't get a full game. KI didn't become a full game until season 2 was complete. The full $20 season 1 of KI was a glorified demo. The last three SFV betas had more content than KI season 1.

Monster Hunter, is a Hendheld game, so does not cost much to do, all they did not have released games from Several franchises, like Megaman, Devil May Cry (the last was not a Sucess), the Only game that they have that sell well Worldwide (with exception of Megaman, and Street Fighter), is Resident Evil, that since 2012, don't Release a Main Entry, and does not seems that will release so soon, they only made a Episodic game, that is Revelations, and will make a MMORPG-LIke, that is Umbrella Corps.

Life is Strange, is published by Square Enix.

Out-side Monster hunter, that is a Handheld and a Japan Exclusive, where is Capcom's Main Games ?, they  had so little money, that they made Multiple versions of the Same game, now they will not release a new version of Street Fighter V, and we will see a true Support for it.

Street Fighter V'S Deal, is the same kind of Deal that Microsoft, made with Capcom, for Dead Rising 3.

They don't a few Monster Hunter games, Dragon's Dogma Online, Two RE ports released and three more coming, Umbrella Corps, RE7 is in the works,  two DMC ports, and numerous things in Japan I won't list.

The point is they've been busy and stopped taking risk with big budget garbage. SFV was a low risk game, they didn't need Sony's money to make that happen but I understand why they took it. Dead Rising 3 was a real risk but MS covered that.

You realize ports cost zilch to make, right? Which, at one point, Capcom didn't even have the $ to do that: the next-gen port of USFIV only came to PS4 after Sony agreed to pay the tab in full. Also, Umbrella Corps is a PS4/PC exclusive (read: PS4 console exclusive, note the distinction), Sony more than likely paid a sum for that as well.

Also, it doesn't matter how much a game will sell or how "risky" a game is to make if you don't have the resources to make it to begin with.

Why are we comparing them?  If KI did it wrong, does that give Street Fighter a free pass?

My gripe with Street Fighter V is that, upon first look, it didn't look like a big improvement over Ultimate SFIV.  That game has years to build but damn. I loved using Elena, Blanka, Poison, Honda etc. Killer Instinct was built from scratch, basically. SFV just had to build from what came before! I didn't even enjoy KI, yet. I prefer the SF series by far.

Really, the only reason we're comparing the two is that one is from M$ and one is from Sony. Why aren't we throwing in (two games I didn't buy) Mortal Kombat or Injustice?  Those games had a ton of content. Tekken (another franchise I don't play anymore) will have a lot of content. Street Fighter is bare bones. I bought Killer Instinct and THAT game was bare bones but it was cheap.

I just ordered a $60 Hori fight pad from Amazon for this game.  It arrives Match 1. I'm going to buy SFV and when I do, I'm going to pay $50 for PS Plus. I own(ed) all of the Street Fighters* including the Ex games since like 1992 across various platforms.  I've played against YOU on Xbox Live!  I love Street Fighter but I'm not going to make excuses for it.

I personnaly think Capcom should have released this game on all consoles. I will never believe they didn't have money for Street Fighter. It's the kind of numbered title you release when you want to earn some money because you know it will sell, like there is a fighting franchise that can topple SF. I want it to be successful but at the same time I don't like that kind of business.

Even though Capcom themselves said they didn't have the resources to make it, or ANY new next-gen fighter for that matter?

Furthermore, how much a game will sell means jack all if you don't have the resources to make it to begin with, so it's a moot point. For point of reference, Capcom already tried AND FAILED to get Darkstalkers 4 off the ground due to their well-known financial problems, and that's basically SF with a halloween theme (I realize that a next-gen DS4 would probably see a similar jump in graphics that SFIV got from SF I-III). The only difference is it would perhaps be a little bit cheaper to market due to being a "lesser tier" title, so if anything, it just heightens the argument they couldn't afford to make SFV.

The other thing going in Sony's favor was the fact that MS said they weren't gonna allow cross-play on the game like they wanted, same reason why FF Heavensward went to the PS4 as a console exclusive (keyword: "console exclusive", not platform exclusive).

I'm NOT excusing SFV's faults. I've said on here and on SRK that the the lack of single player content is inexcusable. I've told people that aren't hardcore SF fans to wait to buy the game until the March content update at the earliest or until the June update for cinematic story update. I like the gameplay and I can enjoy it as is while I await the content updates. In the meantime, I'm learning the game and stockpiling Fight money for the DLC characters. I already have enough for Alex, Balrog, and Guile. Now I'm just saving for Ibuki, Juri, and Urien. I look forward to playing you at SF again. There is no Gouken in SFV but Laura and Zangief are fun so watch out. Add me on PSN if you haven't already.

That's what happens for making the game exclusive to PS4. It backfired on them and I'm glad it did.

The Game actually sold a good ammount for the Launch, we only have UK, and Japan numbers, this already is over 66 Thousands on the Console Version, we still don't have Germany, France, or USA, numbers, that are also Major markets, lets wait and see how Much VGChartz, will track it, The game will have a lot of Support, and is a Multiplataform game, just isn't on Xbox One, but is on PC.

Yes, Development + Marketing + Capcom Pro Tour, that is a Worldwide Tournament, cost more or less this Money, the game is the biggest fighting games of all, GTA V, was a 250 Million US$ Game, don't make it seems that it had the same Development Cost, And not only Open World games are Expensive.

The costs of Marketing would be Huge for Capcom, Sony, made all the Marketing, gave some money for the Development, with the condition that Capcom, would publish the PC Version of Street Fighter V.

Nope, I don't believe making SFV cost that much and we'll never know because Capcom will never release that info.

If Capcom is spending that much making a fighting game though, then we know why Capcom was having financial troubles. That would mean they are fucking terrible with money.
