Forums - Nintendo - Why I'm not buying "Fire Emblem Fates"

The two versions of Fates is two different games with two entirely different stories. I don't see how that's a rip off. Also, the DLC that is releasing with it isn't mandatory or necessarily needed. It's generally just ways to get stronger faster. It's not removed content because they never have that stuff in the games anyways.

Yes it's overpriced, but generally never worth it anyways. The only ones that are worth it is the EXP and Gokd maps.
But again, that's something that would never be in the original game in the first place since it's kinda like a cheat.

Fire Emblem Awakening

- Free DLC(+paid DLC)

- 39.99 Retail Price

Fire Emblem Fates

- 39.99 Retail Price... for 2 games. For 1 game & the 2nd is $19.99

- 19.99 DLC for full experience (A full 3rd game)

+More Free and paid DLC

Verdict: Why are we hyped for this game again?

Because it will be an awesome game, hundreds of hours of play time, 3 FE GAMES!  So many reasons more as well

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !

Can you please tell me where to get the free DLC since I have yet to get any of Awakening's DLC because its damn expensive for what its actually worth.

I think he may mean the extra paralogues that you can get under 'bonus maps'.  I think when the game first released there was a free dlc map or something as well.  Yeah it really is overpriced, but I bought some of it for fun.  The beach map is really fun!

Yeah I agree its like Raiden went over to nintendo and used blade mode on the game. It pisses me off. If the special edition was still available I would get it but its not I dont know what to do :/

They better be three full games.Awakening lasted me about 3 months so if they each are like that, I'll be good for a long time.

Why I am buying buying fates

Because it is awesome! And I plan on buying all the dlc as well.

I'm hyped for it because I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan, loved Awakening, and the new story looks interesting to me. I have no issue buying DLC for a franchise I like (though the limited edition version includes that anyway). The only issue I really have is the lack of Japanese audio, which, while disappointing, isn't nearly enough to dissuade me from picking the game up.

I see a lot of people compare it to Sacred Stones (FE8), though I feel the Zelda: Oracle games are a more fitting comparison. The games will share lots of similarities, and need to connected to get the full story, but both stand alone as individual games in their own right. If people don't like the idea, they can vote with their wallets...I just know I'm stoked to have two new entries in my favorite franchise.

Also, it's already been said, but Awakening only had free DLC for early adopters, and only consisted of the bonus maps, which I believe Fates will be doing as well.

They could never get away with releasing an actual new entry in the series with just one new character. Especially when the premise of the story is the same, and most of the maps you'll play on are maps you've played on in the previous versions.

For the bolded, Radiant Dawn wasn't too far away from doing just that!

But taking our tounges out of our cheeks, I'm mostly curious about the rest of the quoted section. Why do you think the premise and maps are the same? I was under the impression that after the first five maps everything, from plot to maps to even mechanics, are all different. Was I mistaken?

I'm in the minority on this on the site but I can't stand Fire Emblem x~x I like some of the concepts in the game but none of the concepts are fully explored as much as I'd like. Other than that it's just a generic SRPG series that only exists at all right now because of SSB I do like the menu noises. Whoever did the sounds for moving the characters along the grid did an amazing job v.v XD

I will buy at least one version. Maybe one more through DLC. I will play the third version as well. But perhaps not through any means that would earn Nintendo any revenue, because from what I've seen, there isn't enough content there to justify a $80-100 price tag.
I'm still thinking about it.

I can't wait for Friday. I will be getting a copy, and playing the hell out of it. I never buy DLC, so that has nothing to do with my game purchase here.

How do you plan to play all three versions without buying them as DLC?
Revelations is DLC only, while the second version you chose will be twice as expensive if you opt to buy it as a cartridge.

Because this isn't like Pokemon where you can just pick one version and get the full story and have access to all characters (through trading).

I'm not planning to play all 3 versions. I have made my choice as to which side I want to be on, and I'm ready to play.
