Forums - Nintendo - Why Is There Like Zero Attention About the 3DS Successor?

3DS will likely finish its run at around 65-70m going by how sales are going, even with a decline that's higher then what many platforms have ever achieved and 3DS has reached this with out the blue ocean crowd, to top it off Sony have indicated the won't be a Vita successor. This is why the's not much of a focus on the portable side of things because even with all the talk of mobile things look far more secure then the console side.

Because most 3ds owners aren't as hardcore as wii u gamer but mostly casuals.

Someone doesn't know the Pokémon fans lolz, Got 999hours + on Pokémon Y, I breed almost anything breedable/usefull in the game...

What if NX is both a Nintendo handheld and an android mobile? And they never plan on succeeding the Wii U and instead will just give it a few games a year.

Unlikely but possible.

the NX is almost entirely confirmed as being a cross platform system

they are mostly likely released a handheld 'NX' first and then sometime in 2017 a home version. any NX discussion likely should be considered related to both home and handheld, anyone thinking Nintendo is not unfiying their platforms next generation is pretty behind on the game

Because no one cares about handhelds anymore, the market is dead the psvita proves that. I haven't even turned my 3ds on in years... no games that interest me or most gamers.

It's pretty much a done deal that NX is either one device that does both or is the code name for two devices (a handheld and a home console) that share a similar design/operating system/account/games/etc.

3DS successor is far more vital to Nintendo than NX (if it's a discreet console) or Wii U, that's just a fact.

That simply isn't true. The NX is either going to be the final nail in the coffin for Nintendo in terms of relevance to the gaming industry, or it'll be their saving grace. In the end, nothing can change consumers moving more towards smartphones for entertainment, but the console market is going to be there, and that's where we need to see some major improvement from Nintendo.

Nintendo doesn't have a "console market", they have a niche group of 20-30 year old men mostly willing to buy their consoles because they grew up with them in the 80s/90s. That's not "market", that's a niche audience.

If the portable successor to the 3DS is not a big seller for Nintendo, they may as well start applying for a third party license right now.

Really if its a discreet console what is the NX going to be anyway that's so special? A Nintendo console with PS4 graphics instead of PS3 graphics? Are the people buying Playstation and XBox likely to care?

Consoles get a lot more discussion, speculation, hype, etc. compared to handhelds.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Nintendo hasn't said anything about a "handheld". They've said "console" but not handheld. The popular choice is also the idea that NX is supposed to be a mixture of the two.
