looks pretty bad actual, compared to what they were going for in their concept

That is waaay to harsh. Its just has a free engine look to it... Its needs more life... more energy.

not being harsh, its being truthful.  It doesn't look that good right now,but by the time its released I'm sure it will look good as its not supposed to be released till what? 2017?

It looks like someone took the foreground of a daytime picture, and background or a nighttime picture and mixed them together. The end result is looking pretty awkward.

Also, the candles don't seem to be lighting the room, and the color scheme is way off it is supposed to be lit by candles.

XenoX models looks better. Environment too:

It kinda obvious.

not really and you know it. Both character models look the same. XCX world is bigger but who would have gussed it? it has a higher budget and is supposed to be an open world game, above 20 million dollars at least.

I dont really understand why people think pictures can be represntive how the graphics look like, thats maybe true for a sprite based game but not true in the case for a polygon based game, it should be common logic now

Guys.... Why in the flying fairy fuck are we comparing Bloodstained to XBCX?

He was comparing MN9 to Nintendo's other 2.5D platformers ... He is still wrong, so uuuh there is no need to get defensive/offensive.

This is about colors so I'll trust what a woman says.

I think graphic might benefit from loss of color. More darker tone with less lighting and pale colors - like washed out clothes.

Make your Kickstarter with beautiful pixels? Everybody pisses and moans. Make your Kickstarter with (admittedly currently) slightly less beautiful models? Everybody pisses and moans.

It already looks closer to Shovel Knight than MN9 to me, so I'm not worried yet. If the game starts looking worse as time goes on I'll be worried, but this isn't a terrible game director like Inafune so for now I'll give the benefit of the doubt. I'm personally not the Castlevania type (yet) so I don't really care about Bloodstained yet but I'm not gonna hyperbolize it and say it's the next MN9 based on a few rudimentary shaders. Hopefully they dull down the foreground a bit though because right now the contrast is jarring.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

First mistake is an experienced developer taking feedback from non game developers...

Don't do it Iga!

The new improved shader looks leagues better than the other ones they tasted. I'm glad to see Iga actually listens to community feedback and acts accordingly.
And yes, a more cel-shaded look on the evironment would be georgeous, think of the Bastion/Transistor look for this game, for example! But that would probably explode their budget since it would all have to be hand drawn....

I won't judge the visuals until I see them in motion. Screenshots are nice, but they don't provide a full picture of how the game actually looks.
