Forums - Movies & TV - Mad Max Director George Miller will not be making anymore Mad Max movies.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/01/12/director-george-miller-ill-never-make-another-mad-max-movie

“I won’t make more ‘Mad Max’ movies,” Miller told Page Six. “’Fury Road’ with Charlize Theron, Zoe Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Riley Keough was forever getting completed. If you finish one in a year, it’s considered a leap of faith. Start, stop, start again.”

“I’ve shot in Australia in a field of wild flowers and flat red earth when it rained heavily forever. We had to wait 18 months and every return to the US was 27 hours. Those ‘Mad Maxes’ take forever. I won’t do those anymore.”

To sum it all up:

-Series Director and Creator George Miller will not be making anymore sequels, according to himself

-EDIT: I forgot to mention this, but Mad Max: Fury Road was in development hell since 1997, going from starring the original Mad Max, Mel Gibson, to being considered as an animated film, to becoming what we know it as today.

-Oddly enough, he had previously confirmed more sequels in the works, like the sequel to Fury Road, Mad Max: The Wasteland

-In the past he has not been opposed to others taking over the Mad Max series in the form of spin-offs

-------------------------------

My guess is that more Mad Max movies will happen in the future, but George Miller will not be directing. But if this means that there won't be anymore Mad Max movies at all, I'm very dissapointed. Mad Max: Fury Road was my favorite movie of the year.

bet: lost

I hope he changes his mind in the future, because George Miller is a great director. I think Edgar Wright is the only other director that I would want to see attempt a Mad Max movie.

Shame, just hope if they do make another next director has same eye for shooting action scenes as Fury Road had some brilliant shots.

Man, don't quit right after striking on something so amazing!

Sad news indeed! He returned with the best Mad Max ever and I wanted more from his vision of that universe.

Around the Network

Well he is like 70.. I can totally understand why he would direct Happy Feet 3 instead of Mad Max 5

That's a shame! I loved Fury Road, that movie was pure adrenaline!

Signature goes here!

Fury Road flew (drove?) far beyond my expectations so this would be a real shame, but you can't fault a guy his age for wanting to take things a bit easier.

It's not like there's a big need for another Mad Max either, outside of a want for more awesome. Fury Road had a decent degree of closure to it, and it's always nice when a series can go out on a high.

Thank god . No more , fury road was the worst movie of the series.

I've never watched all of the movies in the series all the way through (only Fury Road), but from what I've seen, they're a lot slower than Fury Road. Care to elaborate?
