Forums - Gaming - Son spends over $7000 in FIFA with his father's credit card

The lack of accountability on the part of parents these days is sickening. Had the dad taken the 10 minutes it takes to read up on parental controls, or just simply NOT given his kid an active credit card, this whole situation could've been avoided.

Instead, now it will be the online marketplace's fault for not policing this idiot's child well enough.

Legally, this is the reason why you have to be 18 to get your own loan/credit card/debt.

If a 17 year old buys a car -- he can just return it willy nilly up until his 18th birthday as minors cannot be held accountable in court.

Which is why it falls on the parent to not give their child a credit card at 17.

He's 17, for fuck's sake.. He should have known better!

7000k is not much a kid waste 47 k

How many things are in that stupid game to even be able to amount to 7k?! That's the dumbest kind of shit right there. There's so many microtransactions in the game, that it can actually total more than 7k? Wtf is that crap? No way, in any game, should buying everything possible, even come close to a bloated number like that. They should give the money back, no matter how stupid the 17 year old is. Because, 7k even being a possibility, is the real crime here.

It's not dlc, it's microtransactions in FUT. FIFA has a mode in which you build your team and buy packs which have players and items. You can buy them with money you win by playing matches, buy individual players on the online market or with fifa points which you buy

I assume he bought a million fifa coins to spend on random packs to get awesome players.

It's not that fifa has over 7000$ in dlc

So much this.

It amazes me how little a gaming community like this knows about one of the biggest franchises in gaming history.

FUT is also THE mode to play in FIFA games since first introduced in FIFA 09.

The game has $0 worth of DLC and everything you could buy through microtransactions can be acquired through playing the game (a lot obviously).

People just like to jump to conclusions and blame the industry or EA.

Not much lol... on a GREAT interest rate thats $65-70 of interest a month...

I miss old games, when it was simple to play, without dlc or microtransactions.
