That old lady needs to drop dead... technological innovation should not be patented. screw her and all the patent sharks.

No, some technologies should be patented, or else the big corporations would just steal new engineers' ideas and claim them as their own.

But of course you also get patent trolls, and they can just die in a fire.

 Have you seen her picture on endadget? I don't think she will live that long anyway.

I hate patent trolls, the fact it took her this long to start suing just about anybody on earth, speaks value to her real intention.

lol reminds me of that woman who sued Starbucks for US$215 million dollars because they stopped an Internet coupon promotion that got out of hand. I hope the judge charges HER a few million dollars for tieing up court time with her ridiculous suit.

In the case of patent trolls like this, I really do think the system is broken. I seriously doubt her technology patented was similar enough to the diodes used in HD players, and I'm confused why she waited until now to bring it up.

edit:  And as always, the patent trolls require cease and desists from the companies in question.  I don't understand why they ever think that'll work.  They should just ask for a bucket of money and go home.

These kinds of patent suits are happening all the time. Nothing to be alarmed about. But, I think Sony would be in a lot of trouble if Antitrust did an investigation as it is now a monopoly for HD Movie distribution.
