so VG numbers are over by 1 million?? im lost

Depends on how many people you think bought a Xbox One, but never took it online.

If you believe no one ever buys a xbox one, but doesnt take it online... then yes, like 1.4m overtracked.

If you believe like 800,000 users, have a xbox one, but never took it online, then its only overtracked like 500,000.

I know I for one bought a lot of Xbox Ones to use as comfortable household seating, as well as many of my friends. I wouldn't dare sully them by playing games with them. Will my units not be counted WW?

The thread and the OP have no context, summary of the links or anything and the title is misleading. So most just see the title and make a post.

Edit: Before Carl changed title it said "18 Million Xbox One Sold Worldwide"

Around the Network

I Think that this Source is not Reliable, because we dont Know How they get to Those Numbers, if is Shipped Units and also Att Units of Xbox One ( i think that after Windows 10's Launch, every Xbox, is coming out of the Factory already with Windows 10), and if Xbox One, sold this More than 18 Millions, Microsoft, would say that because 20 Millions is a Important Milestone, and Microsoft, Knows that a Lot of sites say that Xbox One, sold less than 18 Millions, so 20 Millions would be a "Come Back".

The Only Official Sources we have is that it Sold more than Xbox 360, in the Same Life-time sales, this Means that sold more than Early 16 Millions, Anything Besides that is up to Microsoft, to Answer.

most of you guys missing some important points

- the fist rumors about this figure are from 29th December
so this numbers is probably as of week 52 and does not even include week 5 december sales (which would be kind low anyway, but it adds up)
- there are OVER 200 million Windows 10 active devices. breakdown is about ~180m pcs / tablets ~18m xbox and over 1m phones
so it's possible or even likely that the 18m is not rounded up, but rounded down.
- this numbers is active unique devices in the last 28 days / 4 weeks
so it does not include people who did not use theire xbox in the last 28 days, did not upgrade to new xbox expericene, or do not use theire xbox one online

so if you believe Mary jo foley's sources (and she is one of, if not the, most reliable microsoft insiders) the xbox one is at 18m sold through minimum, but could be even close to, or above 20m
solid sales for sure

What about XBOX 360 users? Isn't it added up with XBOX ONE? It's certainly not PCs or Tablets, also not a small number.

Was there an Windows 10 update for the Xbox360?

This method is not mathematically sound.

It's based on an analyst's projection. If that wasn't enough to consider this iffy the analstys projects are based on unverified sources.

I have more faith in Zhuge's estimates.

Seeing as your editing the title you should probably add in "rumour" and "unofficial" too.
