Goof Troop is such a nice game that probably nobody have recommeded yet (didn't read any post).
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs is also great, pretty much like old NES Battletoads, get a friend and play it with him until your friendship breaks xD

Definately agree with Goof Troop. It's a great game, especialy fun to play in co-op. A must buy.

Some other relatively less obvious games that are great:

Sunsetriders, another amazing co-op game. shooter (it is really expensive though)

Mickey's Magical Quest. Except for maybe Aladdin my favorite Disney platformer. Donald in Maui Mallard is another cool Disney platformer

Street Race. Not as good as Mario Kart but in my opinion the 2nd best racer on SNES. Had a pretty fun soccer spin-off mode as well (way before Rocket League)

Parodius. This is pretty much a really weird and absurd version of Gradius

Lost Vikings, a really fun puzzle platformer

Also I want to mention 2 sports games. They are of course nothing like sports games you see today, and seem very archaic. Truth is they haven't aged as well as the other games I've mentioned. However, I used to love these 2 and still and they can still be fun to play a match every now and then (and sports games are also dirt cheap most of the time)

World league basketball (called NCAA in USA). It used mode 7 which was pretty revolutionary. I think it might be 1 of the first sports games to be '3D' which makes it kind of fun to have.

International Super Star Soccer deluxe. Still play it with a friend every now and then, fun for a couple of games. Also, the voice of the commentator is awesome

As a SNES owner/collector myself, I think you've made a great decision. Nothing beats playing SNES games on an actual SNES

Of course, I forgot about Terranigma.

It's an Action RPG like A Link to the Past, but with faster gameplay. You can even run, jump and perform combos at enemies. The graphics and soundtrack are great too.

However, it's a PAL game only, if I remember correctly...

Death and Return: Superman
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4: Turtles in Time
Secret of Mana

I honestly can't think of a whole bunch that I personally liked. Just a few that defined my childhood.

Now ask me about PS1 games...

Sounds like a waste of money but that's just my two cents.

There are countless gems on SNES because it was a fantastic console. Owning one feels great I understand that but seems like you like 2D games why did you traded your X1 for a SNES is beyond me.

The console is fairly easy to find but the games... omg people are selling the original games like they are brand new. Here in Quebec you can pay up to 100$ for a game like Final Fantasy or 40$ for Super Mario All Star.

There was more convenient and less expensive ways to play these games like by emulation or directly through a Ouya. Anyway that's your choice who am I to judge?

If you even get an emulator on PC I would suggest you try these games.

Final Fantasy Bahamut
Star Ocean
Dracula X
Lufia 2
7th Saga 2
Secret of Mana 2
Fire Emblem

People are selling SNES games for alot of money but most of them were much more expensive when they came out. When I was a kid, most of them were like $70.00 US which would be like $120.00 US now lol. Plus, I honestly would enjoy most of them more than most modern games that I could buy for $60.00, you know? I know there is this idea that old games should be dirt cheap but I don't see logic in it. If I buy the new MGS for $60.00, beat it and then never play it again, then wouldn't it be more logical to spend $70.00 on Secret of Mana and own one of the greatest RPGs of all time that I will get to play over and over again? Or Super Metroid? To me, even though they are 20 year old games, their value is greater.

And I didn't even know Star Ocean was that old lol. Does it have random encounters? Secret of Mana 2 would be great but I don't think there's an offical US SNES cart out there as it was only released in Japan.

Yes I started gaming during the NES era and boy were games expensive back then. The reason some people think games should be cheaper is because the creator company doesn't sell them anymore. When you buy a game from ended generations you basically pay for someone to transfer you the game. I understand that rarity will play out but still. Each his own though.

Star Ocean has random battles if I remember correctly. But seriously it has a very nice battle system and man the graphics on that game are of the best the SNES has put. Unless you buy a Super Famicom you won't be able to play that game physically and the game is only in japanese. Through emulators you can get the english text.

Star Ocean on SNES is the first of the series. The second game is on the first Playstation.

If you don't like random encounters, I suggest you leave Final Fantasy Bahamut but at the same time if you liked Final Fantasy 2 you might like this one as it basically uses every assets from the game. It's like a second story in the universe of FF2. Then again I could grab that game only through emulation... buying a SNES doesn't prevent you from getting these gems though.

Pretty much any device that is has more processing power then a 20 year old PC can perfectly emuluate the SNES.  Like I said earlier the SNES has been perfectly emulated for almost 20 years now since the first emulators for it appereard on Windows 95 and all the bugs and clitches that where present on the first couple of emulators for it have been solved a long time ago already.

Secret of Mana 2

I think you mean Seiken Densetsu (Legend of the Sacred Sword) 3. Secret of Mana is Seiken Densetsu 2.

Ohh I didn't know that! I'm gonna have to look for this game. Secret of Mana is one of the best games on the SNES!

Coming from the guy who sells consoles for drug money, I mean food

Although selling consoles for food isn't a waste of money. So this comment is a total fail

If you could get your hands on a Super Scope and the game you will have a blast!. Pun intended...

SNES is my fave system of all time, but I'd never sell an XB1 to gt one. Like others have said, you can play snes roms on any smartphone. Even 64 roms work on old smartphones, I played Ocarina all the way through when I had a galaxy s3
