There are countless gems on SNES because it was a fantastic console. Owning one feels great I understand that but seems like you like 2D games why did you traded your X1 for a SNES is beyond me.

The console is fairly easy to find but the games... omg people are selling the original games like they are brand new. Here in Quebec you can pay up to 100$ for a game like Final Fantasy or 40$ for Super Mario All Star.

There was more convenient and less expensive ways to play these games like by emulation or directly through a Ouya. Anyway that's your choice who am I to judge?

If you even get an emulator on PC I would suggest you try these games.

Final Fantasy Bahamut
Star Ocean
Dracula X
Lufia 2
7th Saga 2
Secret of Mana 2
Fire Emblem

People are selling SNES games for alot of money but most of them were much more expensive when they came out. When I was a kid, most of them were like $70.00 US which would be like $120.00 US now lol. Plus, I honestly would enjoy most of them more than most modern games that I could buy for $60.00, you know? I know there is this idea that old games should be dirt cheap but I don't see logic in it. If I buy the new MGS for $60.00, beat it and then never play it again, then wouldn't it be more logical to spend $70.00 on Secret of Mana and own one of the greatest RPGs of all time that I will get to play over and over again? Or Super Metroid? To me, even though they are 20 year old games, their value is greater.

And I didn't even know Star Ocean was that old lol. Does it have random encounters? Secret of Mana 2 would be great but I don't think there's an offical US SNES cart out there as it was only released in Japan.

Yes I started gaming during the NES era and boy were games expensive back then. The reason some people think games should be cheaper is because the creator company doesn't sell them anymore. When you buy a game from ended generations you basically pay for someone to transfer you the game. I understand that rarity will play out but still. Each his own though.

Star Ocean has random battles if I remember correctly. But seriously it has a very nice battle system and man the graphics on that game are of the best the SNES has put. Unless you buy a Super Famicom you won't be able to play that game physically and the game is only in japanese. Through emulators you can get the english text.

Star Ocean on SNES is the first of the series. The second game is on the first Playstation.

If you don't like random encounters, I suggest you leave Final Fantasy Bahamut but at the same time if you liked Final Fantasy 2 you might like this one as it basically uses every assets from the game. It's like a second story in the universe of FF2. Then again I could grab that game only through emulation... buying a SNES doesn't prevent you from getting these gems though.
