I hope it's white, or it has a lor of colours to choose. Every console now looks like the same box.

That's a very detailed and nice summary of things to realistically expect. Zelda and a real 3D Mario, that is indeed quite heavy. Hmm.
I would be far less worried if Nintendo decided to invest some of their billions into buying more studios. If they have the games, then sure. Release it!

Well simply unifying their home & handheld devices fixes a lot of those issues. Right now they have to develop completely different libraries for 2 separate platforms, with a unified platform 100% of their resources are going towards supporting 1 single platform which leads to less redundant titles, for example not making Mario Kart handheld followed immediately by Mario Kart console, they could instead release 1 Mario Kart game that gets supported with DLC and then release either a new IP or bring back an old franchise like F-Zero or something. The same applies for many other teams and games.

Yeah, the purple color scheme didn't do the GameCube any favors.. Don't even get me started on the handle!

It looked like an oversized lunch box with the purple.

There is no contradiction. The statement is "Nintendo will make NX available by 2016's year-end shopping season" and the shopping season is the holidays. There is no other valid interpretation. The thing is that the analyst switches from the above calendar terminology to fiscal years later on. "17/3" means fiscal year 2017, quarter three. That's the same timeframe as in the beginning of the article, October-December 2016. There is no March mentioned in regards to the NX launch. In fiscal year terms, Nintendo is currently in 16/4. Fiscal year 2016, quarter four; covers the period January-March 2016. 17/3 is three quarters later, October-December 2016. 17/3 and others do not stand for calendar year/month, they stand for fiscal year/quarter. |
OK, I think that we are both wrong...although I'm not exactly sure. The fiscal year in the United States for 2016 starts in October of 2015 and goes through December, so in the US that would be Q1. Everywhere else, the fiscal year is only a few months so this really makes no sense whatsoever. I still think they are referring to the month and year, but who knows.

Fiscal year end at the end of March is fairly common for many companies even American ones, it's hardly something specific to Nintendo.
Every company can a different fiscal year end, my uncle owns three different registered companies, they all have fiscal year ends at different times.
