I saw Ex Machina on a whim and ended up being a great sci do thriller. Could become a cult classic someday.

I've seen tons of movies this year. It's been great altogether, although forcing me to narrow down movies is always a difficult task for me.
For starters, there's two Benicio del Toro movies which I think deserve a bit more of love:
- Sicario
- A perfect Day
I did like Black Mass more than I thought, but I wouldn't call it an awesome movie or anything. Ex Machina was outstanding; haven't seen The Walk because it has not been released here yet (Which is a shame, because I'm such a Zemeckis fanboy). Mars was good, but I found it overrated.
A terribly, terribly underrated movie is In The Heart of the Sea. I honestly don't know why critics hated it so much. Sure, having cut the movie's lenght by thirty minutes would have been much better (it drags a bit on the end), but I did find myself enjoying it.
I also wanted to watch The Danish Girl, but it releases here next year. Didn't see Crimson Peak becase all my friends went to the theaters without asking me.
My Film of the Year is either Mad Max: Fury Road or Bridge of Spies. Haven't decided yet, but it's among those two.
I haven't seen many such as Revenant and The Martian, would recommend Sicario though.

Didn't really see anything I could deem underrated.
I haven't seen Star Wars yet, so I don't know where that lies on my spectrum, but as far as what I've seen goes Mad Max: Fury Road is my pick for film of the year.
bet: lost
While it did have some disappointing films, it more than made up for it with a surprisingly good Star Wars, a surprisingly good Mission Impossible, and better than expected other films. I think there were more good surprises than bad ones. Still, nothing super-standout this year. Maybe the Martian, but I hadn't seen it.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
Most underrated is Chappie, deserved much more than 6.9
I enjoyed Ex Machina as well, but Chappie was more fun, better movie overall.
Best movie, erm Mr Robot. New TV series schooled movies this year
That can change when the Martian comes out on blu-ray, haven't seen it yet.
Best visuals and sound design: Mad Max Fury road no contest. There's practically no story, just an awesome experience.
Worst: Jupiter ascending.

Chappie is a movie I enjoyed a lot. Coming from Elysium it was a step-up, though it doesn't nail the greatness of District 9. However, that weird ending and some inconsistences in the plot brought it down, in my eyes. I do agree it deserves more than a 6.9.
Creed, Mad Max Fury Road, Inside Out, The Peanuts Movie, Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, Star Wars VII and many others, great year for movies of course :)
