Forums - Gaming Discussion - Kojima Snubbing Xbox Is Microsoft’s Fault Alone

The article does not say much to be honest. It lists a bunch of nuch words and does not care to explain itself. it can basically be resumed in 2 sentences: Japanese games sell better on PS; and Xbox sales are bad in Japan. That is the reason, pure and simple.

He does not list specific reasons but uses vague buzzwords that can mean a thousand things: ''cultural differences'', ''business meetings'' (lol how does he know, was he in the meetings?), ''console, and controller design'' (uh what? didn't the ps3 try to launch with the banana controller), ''due to many factors''

The reason is simply that there is a long history of Kojima games on PS, that his games have sold better, etc. It's not Microsoft's fault. Kojima simply went with what is familiar to him.

And now what is he developing?

Well, he finished a Wii game and made a successful mobile game.

lol It comes down to common sense if you know your info. If you aren't using that, of course you'll be upset. If you're going to use numbers from VGC, why not mention the PS3 version of MGS V currently outselling the X1 version. I think that makes the clearest point for people who have not gotten it through their head.

"Damn that Japanese man for not doing business with the American company, whose console I own, and instead opting for that Japanese company's console that massively helped his career to this day." -said someone this situation does not favor

According to VGC, the highest selling MGS game on any Xbox console is MGS2: Substance with 600k(Maybe MGS V on X1 passed that with digital). If Kojima frequents VGC, the answer was obvious for him.

Japan simply doesent matter to Xbox. And with every year Sony has become less relevant in Japan. Especially with their handheld console fading into obscurity.

Kojima making a game with Sony's money makes sense becuse thats where his fans are and most of his fans aren't in Japan.

"LOLChartz"?

It was a pretty obvious decision...
Maybe after he gets money from this first game, he can go and risk it in multiplatform games...
In other news... I hope he gets in touch again with Del Toro and Reedus and make the game together :D

How is the fact that Sony got to him first Microsoft's fault? According to NeoGAF, they've been talking for months now. Sony's funding and publishing the game, and people consider this "snubbing"? It's not like a Sony published game was going to release on XB1 anyway. Did Platinum Games snub Sony by not releasing Scalebound on PS4?

Title is pretty baity, article hardly says anything new 8/10

If both Microsoft and Sony pitched, MS would have to pay substantially more money, and even then it would still be in Sony's favor. Japanese Gamers and most gamers who like Japanese games don't care for nor expect such on Xbox even though 360 really did try.

Everyone going in would know it was a lost cause on the Microsoft side, and it would be a significant waste of money to establish a small foothold in a country of diminishing market size.

Meh, its not like MS needs Kojima. They have Keiji Inafune working on a game for them.
