Nope.
Straight ports.
No higher resolution, no trophy support.

Absolutely no, they made different emulators for the PS3 to play some PS2 games: (firmware is written when it first appeared on ps3):
ps2_emu.self (1.02++)
ps2_gxemu.self (1.50++)
ps2_softemu.self (1.90++) 1.90-1.94 (11065), 2.00-2.10 (11830), 3.15 (12840), 3.41-3.65 (13474), 3.66-3.70 (15435), 3.72-4.21 (15529)
(Changes: -2.50] [2.52-2.60] [2.70] [2.80] [3.00-3.65] [3.66-3.70] [3.74])
ps2_netemu.self (3.70++)
there are a bunch of them in the PS3 internal HDD, differences based of compatibility of emulators with different games,
on different hardwares on the ps3 (cecha has both ps2 cpu and gpu, cechc (pal) only has ps2 gpu, two different emulators for those consoles)
"non HW BC consoles" cannot use the first two emulators (my memory of this is vanishing)

NOTE that the ps2_netemu.self only works with "ps2 classics format", do you know what is it?
It's a ps2 disc ISO image that has been encrypted in a proprietary format, the file will be converted in "
ISO.BIN.ENC"
NO REWORK IN ANY GAME, they made the emulator, NOT THE GAMES, games are NOT PORTS.
Sony really likes that the users never get to know anything (like any console manifacturer out there....), so they can trick them and
make a lot of money,
evidence is also that I converted Xenosaga episode 3 disc 1 and 2 in that format and even if it is not present on the PS store (so not officially compatibile)
it works very well (results vary by game of course)
I am not a developer, I haven't ported a ps2 games to ps3, just followed a guide for noobs to play my ps2 game in my ps3 SLIM (CFW) because 60GB ps3 died.
THE EMULATORS ARE MADE BY SONY ITSELF.
Of course when there was a save corruption problem in persona 3 fes ps2 classic they called atlus, that made a very fast and probably super easy fix, so people who download
the game after that, won't have the problem (or Sony wrote some more lines of code in the emu for that specific fix.)
I really hope this helps, because the truth must be told to everyone.Definitely they did a much better job with the PS Vita, that supports psp games and ps1 games, that don't need to be bought again (only if you have them on ps store)
much better console for me.
I you want to play Socom 2, 3 or the other onle online, just dust-off your ps2 and come to play with us using Xlink Kai FREE program for LAN tunnelling (Do you really expect a socom 2 "remaster" will allow you to play multiplayer? just like uncharted 2 and 3 ports right?
(this was written only because I saw some interest in socom 2 in this thread)
