These Steam Machines Are $200 Off, Starting at $299 Today Only

Three different models available depending on the specs you want

For one day only, Syber Gaming has discounted the prices of its various Steam Machines by $200, making the cheapest of the bunch $299.

Syber, which is the branch of CyberPowerPC dedicated to living room computers like Steam Machines, has two simultaneous deals going on ahead of Black Friday. Its Steam Machines (as well as its other offerings, like the Vapor One) are $100 off, and there's an additional $100 main-in rebate to go along with it. That's obviously not as ideal as a straight-up $200-off offer, but it does ultimately represent a 40 percent discount on its cheapest Steam Machine.

The price and basic specs for each of Syber's three Steam Machines follow below.

Steam Machine I -- $299 (originally $499)

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-4160
  • RAM: 4 GB DDR3
  • HDD: 500 GB SATA III
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 1 GB

Steam Machine P -- $589 (originally $789)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4460
  • RAM: 8 GB DDR3
  • HDD: 1 TB SATA III
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 2 GB

Steam Machine X -- $1279 (originally $1479)

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K
  • RAM: 16 GB DDR3
  • HDD: 1 TB SATA III
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 4 GB

These prices are only available today, November 23, until 11:59 PM PST.

All three systems run SteamOS, the new operating system designed for Steam Machines. A recent technical analysis showed that performance on the operating system may suffer compared with Windows, but it's possible this could change going forward.

These Syber Steam Machines were among the first to be released by any company, debuting alongside offerings from Alienware and Zotac in October. While these Syber configurations are undoubtedly pricey when compared with standard computer builds, these sale prices do make them among the cheapest Steam Machines out there currently.

Not bad actually, but i read the performance article and they do perform poorly, very poorly.

Any gamer loves great games, but the Steam Machine is too "high maintenance" for me.  I might as well just buy a PC from my standpoint.  But some might be interested in this deal.

If they didn't have such sucky configs I would buy one of the cheap ones at that price to install windows and use as a media device under one of my TV's. But realistically they are badly configured for that and by the time you fix that you end up paying too much again.

I think we should expect a LOT more sales on steam machines as OEM's struggle to find suckers buyers for them.

Even at 300 dollars, I would strongly recommend a PS4 or an Xbox One over the Steam Machine I.
I don't see the appeal of the Steam Machine X. If you're spending that much on a PC, you're either an enthusiast, you would be building your own PC. Alternatively, you would need your PC to be a workstation, which a Steam machine is not optimal for.
That said, at that price point, the Steam Machine P is attractive. It won't blow consoles out of the water with those specs, but the performance difference will be very significant. A 970 is a good graphics card.

AFAIK Steam Machines ARE PCs. They just have SteamOS installed by default instead of Windows like usual PCs. As for the deals, at least the first two don't sound bad at all. Don't know about the third one though.

This Steam machine project will hurt Valve tremendously. They should probably stick to making amazing games and handling the software side of Steam.

Seems to be a good deal to resell the parts espacially the graphicscards

Let me clarify.  I'd rather buy a "convention" PC to my specs for both current use and future expandability.

Still don't care, not gonna buy lol.
