Pretty good ads by Nintendo.

I'm pretty sure that almost all the story missions outside of the first few need requirments to unlock. 

I think they do it so that you are the proper level. Like I'm sure one of the objectives is "kill this monster" and said monster is a certain level. 

At least that's how I imagine it is.

I go on a family vacation for one weekend and I come back to here and find that XCX got some TV commercials!!
What happened at Nintendo while I was away?!?
BUT HELL YEAH, AND STILL 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE GAME COMES OUT! That's around the same time the ads for Mario Maker were coming out before its release.
Now of course Xenoblade is nowhere near Mario's league when it comes to sales, but it can still do pretty damn good if Nintendo delivers with great commercials like these ones!
Just 2 weeks, you can do this Nintendo! DO NOT FAIL US OR MONOLITH!

Considering the UK won't see the American commercial, I fail to see your point of this.

I predicted this a while ago. Zelda for Wii U didn't make it out this year so they had to bank on Xenoblade Chronicles X. I'm sure Nintendo is hoping that the introduction of the Xenoblade characters and overall franchise in Smash Bros. will generate interest just like how there was demand for the Fire Emblem series in North America after Marth and Roy were featured in Melee.
