They should be advertising tomb raider instead of doing this salty move

This is certainly a better move all round. TR isnt really a game I liked very much but the reviews are impressive and people are out there beating their drumms for this game, it is kind of silly buying timed exclusivity and then deciding the game your competition has marketing for (yet isnt getting great reviews) deserves your attention more.

I think some of you are taking this a wee bit too seriously... >_>

Or is MS?

Funny enough, sony isn't doing it.

I think it's criminal to even be allowed to HAVE exclusive marketing. It's completely BS and should be legally blocked in court.

This, I find exclusive marketing to be highly dubious and deliberately misleading in general, this gen is especially worse for marketing rights because you have plenty of comments as an example on Youtube that constantly ask "is this on X platform too?". Because of that type of deceptive marketing, people don't always know that said games are available on other platforms, even at the same time and that affects the casual crowd as well as some who try to stay informed, for myself I always look up a game I'm interested is to know if it's on PC or when it would than relying on bought advertising to tell me what platform it's on.

That said I'm finding the reactions in this thread to play out like they always typically will, MS are once again up to their sneaky and highly devilish ways on trying to one up Sony but good guy Sony is the saint, the second coming that has and can do no wrong because they have never sinned or earned redemption decades ago. The same scenario is going to play out hundreds of times this entire gen and maybe even the next, nothing is going to change the canvas people have painted on.

Why is it specially bad this gen, but wasn't on the previous one?

Why is it bad or the same as last gen?, world isn't evenly split in terms of everything, exclusive marketing is still bad but this gen it seems more prominent than ever.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

It reeks of desperation. Should have advertise ROTR, that one really needs it. Lol

you guys are reading way to much into this, read it in the proper context...

ms is just doing everyone the public service of letting you know there is nothing on xbox one.   cut them some slack guys, not everything they do is sneaky and underhanded.  they are doing this for the gamers.

When you look at it like that it's an epic fail.  Most people will look at it and be like a blank green page.  Wow great advertising.

I was going to post this....but I was to frustrated that Microsoft could be spending this money and creativity to push Tomb Raider but apperently they don't find saving Tomb Raider worth bothering.

I would've paid more attention if the PS4 wasn't steamrolling the competition. Phil is desperate, let him have it. If I were him I'd utilize that space to advertize Tomb Raider, it needs it.

edit:

One of the business models employed by third party publishers is selling exclusive advertising rights to console manufacturers. If circumventing such deals goes unpunished, why would anyone pay for them in the future?

You can easily call this a smart thing to do by MS, but you could just easily guess why EA may be unhappy about it. Goes without saying, SONY must be extremely unhappy about this, giving the fact they paid loads of cash to get to advertize the game as a PS4 game and intentionally omit the X1 from the equation.

and before anyone brings up the Destiny fragrance as an example of why this is ok, let's not forget that MS had to pull the joke and replace it with something else only hours after it was made public.

I can´t tell if you are joking or realy butt hurted with this situation.
