Inb4 "you need a monitor and OS!"
You need a desk too.
Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.
A pretty solid build, and it'll way outperform the ps4. Just plug it in your tv and connect a controller and you're set. No desk or monitor required.

And a house. Don't forget electricity and internet!
The only issue I have with this build is the upgrade path is quite dead. For a little more somebody can go with an i3, but be able to upgrade to an i5 in the mid-distant future to extend the life of the system. Although, I suppose somebody could always buy a new motherboard for that purpose, but at that point they are better off building a new PC.

Shit I cant afford all that
leaving of monitor possibly as most Tvs can be used as a poor monitor these days, but no OS, this only works out if your planning to Pirate.
Yeah, and with this configuration you will need an upgrade for all the latest PC games in a year. I really don't know why are some even trying. I mean, yeah you can do this, but be ready to only get partially the true PC experience. Hardware price wise they never did and never will beat consoles.
And this is coming from someone who is a regular in the PC gaming scene for almost 20 years now.

Os prices vary. Just like keyboard & mouse + controller aren't listed. I get operating systems for free from my university, for example. For many people, it is very easy to find a cheap WIndows 7 key (as cheap as $20-30) and upgrade to Windows 10. Many employers give discounted operating systems to their employees, etc, etc. Just as with anything PC-related, how much you save depends on how much you know. Which I understand is an obstacle, but for those who have the time to spare it is an advantage.
