Forums - Sales - So, at the end, Splatoon will outsell Halo 5. HANDS DOWN!

Did you ever think this was possible!?

yes, since E3 2014 64 13.94%

Yes, after Splatoon launch 56 12.20%

Yes, after Halo first week in UK 80 17.43%

I never expected that. wow... 256 55.77%

Total:456

Even if Halo 5 manages to outsell Splatoon at the end, there ain't gonna be any murder nor even a bit of blood drawn. I think is gonna be closer than what most people think and this is an established IP against a completely new one. If Halo 6 vs Splatoon 2 happens in the same year, Halo is gonna get obliterated, I'm calling it now.

Define obliterated... I'm genuinely curious.

I might be wrong, but destiny, cod , ect sales were 50 percent regarding UK and everywhere else in the world for xbox one. If that is the case, Halo 5 should post the same numbers. Then, if we include digital, splatoon got owned.

For Destiny the US and UK made up 74.9% of the total week one sales and 79.8% of the overall sales for Destiny on Xone were from UK and US.

For Halo MCC UK and US were 75.4% of the total sales.

For CoD Ghosts they were 80.7% of total sales.

For Titanfall they were 79.4%.

Basically there's no shooter on Xone to my knowledge where the UK and US made up only 50% of the worldwide sales, and in face there doesn't appear to be any below ~75%.

So if thats the case it will be around 2 million first week. Still more than Splatoon life time sales. Reminds me when Nintendo fans said Wii U will outsell xbox one.

Well if the 75% remains accurate than you can extrapulate the known amounts of UK + US (150k +936k?) = 1.086m to be a third higher when accounting for the rest of the world 1.1+1.1/3 = 1.448m and then digital of expected 20% you'd get around 1.74m.

I agree I see no reason to think that Splatoon will win lifetime.  Basing the expected overall lifetime sales on first week previous Halo games Halo 4 had around 38.4% of it's total sales in the first week, Halo Reach had 37.7%, Halo 3 had 31.6% and Halo MCC (though still selling obviously) had around 34.5%.   Average that out to 35.5% and apply that to the 1.448m calculated before (as these % did not include digital) one could assume that Halo % will get to 4.07m retail sales with digital adding 20% to make 4.89m.

Splatoon's sales have been very impressive in their longevity, but I don't think it'll beat the projected Halo5 numbers.

Splatoon 2 is gonna paint all over Halo 6 existence.

(In case you were seriously genuinely curious about the word itself, here. I'm using a hyperbole, of course. But Halo seems to be going down and Splatoon will get better, if Nintendo doesn't drop the ball. So I expect Splatoon 2 to come out on top of Halo 6 asuming they launch close enough of each other to even compete).

I meant in numbers. What kind of numbers would you consider oblitaration? Splatoon2 4m vs Halo 1m in the year they launch? Bigger gap? Smaller gap?

Just (re)read the bolded. No worries, then.

I don't know if Splatoon is going stay ahead of Halo 5 LTD, but I find the mere fact that they can even be compared to be pretty incredible. If I went back a year ago and told Past Boom that quirky ink shooting game had even a slim chance of outselling the next Halo, he'd have just laughed honestly. I suppose we're past the point of being surprised at Splatoon's sales...but I still think it's impressive how well it's done.

After that he'd probably me ask how Zelda U is...and I'd probably start crying.

Ok, I'm pretty confident as well. I accept the full control of looser's signature. You can put everything you want, even the "X was right, I'm terrible with predictions". If you think Xmas 2017 is too far away, we can seal Xmas 2016. Deal?

Deal :)

Right. Let's go! Good luck for us both! xD

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
