Personally, I'm no Buddhist, but I love the Dalai Lama. He's not a slave to religion, even his own. If science can prove something he believes wrong, then he admits that it was wrong and doesn't believe in it. If there is sound reason not to believe in something, he doesn't believe in it even if he did before he heard the reasoning. He doesn't desperately cling to his ideas, and claim everyone who disagrees with him is evil, he admits he was wrong, his beliefs and teachings evolve, and he keeps going.
If he is talking to people of other religious beliefs (or those with no religion) he prefers to focus on discussing principles, philosophies and ways of bettering ourselves and our world rather than preach his beliefs at them. THAT is the kind of religious leader I respect.

Simply arguing that we are right makes all of us arrogant. We have no sound proof, no verifiable sources (but the tainted words minced by men over thousands of years to read in the way in which they wanted in both science and the Bible) and no way to resolve this. So what do you do? ? |
The last people who has posted in this thread haven't been trying to push any belief into no one ... everybody is saying what they feel ... i think the only one trying to sound as absolue truth is you ... i haven't been trying to preach to anybody in this thread, jut giving a few words on some points, and as i already said ... religion and God is something you just have to feel ... to know it in your heart ... whatever your religion is ... and if you don't believe in anything or are an atheist ... then that's how you feel ... but you can't come here saying that what everybody believes is not true ... 'cause there's no way you can know that ... for example i know what i know ... and you can't change that :)

Actually Applonious of Tyana was the one doing all the "miracles" and got crucified. The early christians just gave Jesus credit for it. Look into the history of Jesus and the other "messiahs" that lived at the same time as Jesus, beyond some gospels that were written decades after his death. The Jesus that people worship and pray to is a combination of various people, myths and prophecies tied up in a nice neat easy to deify package.
I don't use emotion to discern truth, even the bible warns against that.

So yeah, you keep trusting in your heart and feelings to guide you, your own book calls that stupid.

Damn vagabond where did that come from. Tavin is a pretty resonable guy.
Also there is evedince to suggest some parts of the bible being written within 30 years of Jesus's death.
And Tavin is kinda write in what he says it's not emotions it's the holy ghost. (from a christian perspective of course)
