Forums - Nintendo - Yuji Naka Doesn't Like What Rodea the Sky Soldier Has Become

That's a real shame.

At least the Wii version wasn't canned or anything, I guess.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Btw, Naka did NOT work on Wii U/3DS versions. Kadokawas own internal team did those.

So what did he do? The Wii version only?

You need to be caught up.

This was announced in 2010 as Wii game by Naka and his team. They finished it, but by the time they did Wii was dead so Kadokawa just held onto to gam. Naka was asked to do new versions, he said no because thats not how he intended it to played so Kadokawa did it themselves.

Well the way I see it he had a cry about it all.

If he swallowed his pride the port to Wii U would have been a better decision i.e. Wii to Wii U

Not Wii to 3DS to Wii U

That way the game would have retained all the features.

Surprisingly I'm enjoying the Wii U version... It gets a little frustrating at times just because you don't have 100% accuracy but it's not entirely bad because you can fix it with the next aim.

I'll play the Wii version when I'm done with the Wii U version and see the difference. But so far, it's not that bad.

Naka, how about you go back to SEGA and help them make good Sonic games again! You can even ditch Rodea and make a REAL Nights game.

He was responsible for a fair few of their turds. Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog etc. Generations and Colours are both better than any post Mega Drive/Genesis Sonic games he was responsible for.

NiGHTS is also one of the most over-rated games of all time!!! :p His true post Mega Drive gems were actually Burning Rangers (omg if they'd held this back to launch on Dreamcast!) and Billy Hatcher IMO.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Opinions, everyone has em'. I though Billy Hatcher sucked...well...eggs. To say that Colors and Generations was better than Sonic 1-3 is, to me, a poor judgement. Of course, that's my opinion. I prefer solid platforming from a platforming genre. Not, running as fast as you can until you hit something and break the flow. That's not what made Sonic famous and that's why his games today aren't as good. Sega has even recognized that they need to go back to the way Classic Sonic games played. And I actually liked Sonic Heroes. It was better than Sonic 06  at least.

Heroes wasn't that bad! I agree with Shadow though, that game sucks really hard.

I didn't say they were better than Sonic 1-3. ;)

The game has been in development hell for ever and it still hasn't reached the west. At this point no one really cares anymore.

I don't get why they didn't port the Wii version to Wii U... Probably because most Wii U bundles have no Wii Remote, but come on, who has a Wii U and no Wii Remote?

... Me, and I'm guessing most people that bought a Wii U without previously owning a Wii? And I've never seen a Wii U bundle that includes a Wii Remote o.O

You know it deserves the GOTY.
