I took a moment to think about it...
Who is this guy and how did that individual get copy/build of the game?

Cultural differences are really weird things.

The difference is Japan tend put censorship on porn, and western tend to uncensored their porn while put censorship on video games

To a degree it has to. Or certain things wouldn't be removed in one game. But than removed in another. Which can be found in various games. By the same company. Nintendo themselves are a confusing bunch. Since this was allowed in the game to begin with. As they know this was going to be a world wide selling game. Why would you put something like this, that you know could potentionally be wrong in other countries, in? And not simply agree to not do it from the get go. That basically saying Nintendo US/EU has no input towards Nintendo JPN. |
Yeah i think NoE and NoA has actually not much input what the devs make in japan. Monolith soft is a bit known for its fanservice, it was in the original xenoblade a little bit, and they kept it, but it didnt depict minors. Some censorship i dislike are tharja from FE:awakening and Fatal frame and some others. THe localisation teams changed that quite a bit. Japan is much different, and i dont think a localisation team in Europe or USA can give any real feedback to the devs, that comes afterward.

This is catering to a market's taste and social and moral codes. This has been done thousands of times before. Remember Contra and Probotector? Probotector was a cosmetic change from Contra to cater to the European market after doing extensive market research (mostly Germany being anti 20st century war stories). The western character looks much better if you ask me. I mean come on, that Japanese outfit is completely ridiculous. |
Have you never thumbed thru a fashion mag or similar? Ever seen an Abercrombie and Fitch add or Calvin Klien add? Video game characters ThHAT ARE NOT EVEN REAL have nthing on the stuff you would see in ta typical fashion mag aimed mostly at woen and teen girls-
People need to get out more and realize the video games being censored are hardly "risque" compared to what is already around them- and the only reaon Nintendo are censoring are due to the AS' s and SJW's of the world
Usually I'm against censorship but unless you are R.Kelly you shouldn't have an issue with this. A 13 year old girl in lingerie? Nah, I'll pass.

Seriously does anyone think its OK for a character of whichever sex to be portraied like this one was on the JP version ? Thats ridiculous, why isnt she wearing any clothes whatsoever ? Threre shouldnt be a censorship cause the original character shouldnt be absurdly over sexualised like it is in the JP version in first place.

They were censored by themselves. Doesn't matter whether they chose to do it themselves or were forced to do it. It's still censorship. |
This is not censoreship, this is localization. This is not ESRB deciding they can't put this in, or Germany deciding they can't put this in. This is Nintendo's team who makes changes in order to make the game marketable in other markets; including translation, rewrites, and changes in content. It is not censoreship just because the localization team decided to remove something that Europeans would find inappropriate, it is making the game more marketable in Europe, because if they put stuff like that in the game, it will hurt its sales - and it is the localization team's job to make sure the game sells well in other markets.
This was the correct call by localization. If you are against it, provide a good argument as to why you think a child should have this sexualizing outfit, and saying "I don't like censoreship" is both a fallacious and a strawman argument.

Yes actually, but I also understand that their culture is different to ours, so what's normal for them may not be normal for us.
