why does everyone keep saying that Fallout 4 will score a higher metacritic simply because of 'hype'? Both Xenoblade original and Fallout 3 scored extremely high and both of their sequels are extremely looked forward to

I don't think anyone who is being fair and balanced in their analysis could say that in 2008 Fallout 3 didn't deserve the reviews it got, it was pretty revolutionary for the time in terms of open world and choices in a FPS perspective. Fallout 4 appears (based on what gamers have been shown so far) to be pretty promising as well. if it scores higher then it will be because reviewers and gamers enjoyed it, nothing more. if it scores lower then the same applies

I find it hilarious so many people claiming that games they have never played before they expect to be 'just a little bit' or 'a lot' better than another game that they also have never played. bizarre.

I never said that Fallout 4 would score higher JUST because of the hype and being a estabilished franchise.I said the reviewers are more propense to give it extra points because of that, not that the game wouldnt get good scores based on their merits.

And I say what Im saying based only on impressions of what i saw so far.Yeah, im probably not being too fair with fallout 4 because i never played a fallout game before(and thats actually the reason that im probably not getting it.I hate starting a franchise when they already had many intinerations, even if the stoy is self contained in the game like Fallout 4 is probably going to be), but i still think that Xenoblade X is going to be better, because thats what i get from the things I saw.We all do that, we all judge things that we didnt try before or dont know much about.And that also includes you.Its the human nature

Xenoblade X will outsell fallout 4 according to the poll ;), which shows this thread is a Nintendofan Beehive. No offense intended but I am pretty sure the Xone version of fallout alone will outsell Xenoblade X. Besides Fallout 4 is highly anticipated in the West where I doubt this is the case with Xenoblade.

 

Not saying the game is bad, it is probably going to be great. But the release won't be as big as that of fallout 4 even though the poll claims otherwise.

XCX, it's my most anticipated game of the gen thus far. As far as Fallout goes, I've never looked into that series in the least. I guess I just don't like post-apocolyptic settings.

Yes but someone stated that the forums on this site are biased, on which OP asked why. Since I agreed with the first commenter I explained why this thread is biased. Simply because fallout is a much bigger release than Xenoblade.

The poll asks which game users of this site are getting, not what we think sells/scores better.

I'll get both at some point in time, but XCX first and Fallout 4 when it's in the bargain bin as a GOTY edition with bugs fixed and DLC bundled in. For most of us, there's more urgency to get XCX sooner than later even if it's more widely available than the original XC. XCX is what many necessitate even having the WiiU upon.



I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I dont think its bias really, its just that there are alot of Nintendo fans or people excited for xenoblade chronincles. Doesnt mean they are biased towards it selling better, few people are that arrogant, the poll is about what game people will be getting, in this site more people will get XCX. Doesnt really show that XCX will sell more.

What this poll reveals is a big maturity on these forums. Quite honestly bigger than i thought. Not beeing swayed by the perceived majority and forming your own opinion regardless of what the majority thinks is the sign of maturity and mental independence. I applaud the honesty that this poll shows.

Quite honestly i though the "both" option was gonna win. I am pretty surprised.


People who buy Xenoblade X are more mature than people who buy Fallout 4? Or people who form their own opinions are more mature? People who buy Fallout 4 don't have their own opinions?

I'm sorry, I'm just confused.

As for myself, I played Fallout 1 and 2 and loved them both, Fallout 3 was good but not great, New Vegas was great in my opinion and I'm looking forward to Fallout 4 as well. That opinion and expectation is built around an almost 20 year old love for the series and the setting and not hype or juvenile peer pressure. I'm not saying that many of the buyers won't be the customers brought in by the latter, Bethesda started pulling more casual strings with Oblivion and took it to another level with Skyrim, and it resulted in amazing sales, but there are a lot of people who buy them for being solid titles and for enjoying the settings, gameplay and overall genres as well.

To me, this sounds like another attempt at "people who play Nintendo games are mature, others are not", or "Nintendo gamers are the true hardcore gamers",  which is something people have been saying in here for nearly a decade. I could be completely misinterpreting your last bit but it honestly sounds like that old schtick.

I voted Fallout 4 and I'm also being completely honest and not swayed by majority opinion; if anything, I've been a careful skeptic all along and I've offered a bunch of criticism towards Bethesda games and other so called "AAA" games for many years in here. Besides; who's to say that people aren't being swayed by mass opinions on Nintendo platforms as well and not really making their own (mature) choices?


Wait there, you are twisting my words. I didnt say people voting on F4 aren't mature. I said people voting on F4 and then coming in and saying: "this shows how biased these forums are", aren't mature. A bit of a difference there that is quite significant.

Make no mistake, i love Fallout. This isnt about fallout at all. Its about atitudes. I would say you are trying too hard to find a discrimination where there isnt one. This is not about Nintendo gamers either. Its showing what you like regardless of what the majority or socially acceptable choice is. It makes those that conform themselves to the majority feel quite unconfortable and show their colors, as we have seen. 

Also, if you did read my first post on this thread, you would know i'm expecting Fallout 4 to be better, so if i had a bias, it would be a very strange one. This isnt what you thought it was mummel.
