Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Will Focus Primarily On Xbox Live Usership, Not Console Shipments

Why are you so mad, OP? It's not like you wanted M$ to succeed in the first place. 😌 Just admit it.

I admit, I want M$ to fail this gen. Eat some humble pie. So, they wake the fuck up and not release weak ass hardware ever again. Then go beast mode on their next box.

Not everyone can be first place at the same time. But it doesn't mean the other bitches are failing super hard. Why keep kicking these losers when they can't even get up? If you want to blast M$, there's N4G and YouTube for that.

Isn't this what happened last gen, I mean apparently Sony folk had it bad last gen until later on and seems like they bided their time until this gen and now the roles are reversed, I honestly don't see that cycle ever chaning until consoles just stop. Imagine enxt gen MS pulls a massive 180 and makes a ebast console while also supporting the PC eco system and does well on both fronts while backhanding Sony, I can easily imagine gamers on that side getting uppity and upset about it.

At this point though it's clear who's in 1st place but there's really no need to keep tooting the horn of who's the winner (which constantly seems to be a common theme here) and who's the lsoer (another common theme if we go by this thread).

(none of this is directed towards you btw, just something I thought Id point out).

And compete with GOG and Steam? Thats a battle they wont ever win.  Heck, i doubt they would be able to make a dent in their dales. Even origin wouldnt be effected by them.

If they ditch hardware, they go third party, thats how i see it. But then xbox live is dead. I really wonder what they are going to do.

They're hoping to use LIVE as the catalyst. What's the one thing XB1 users constantly go on about? If MS can successfully ambutate LIVE from the console and move it over to the PC then lots of XB1 owners will follow -- or that's the theory in my opinion.

very few actually will. Steam will be the superior service. Steam will be free. Steam will have cheaper prices. the only people who would follow are the hardcore fanboys. the rest would move on to PS4 and some to PC.

This is pretty much a done deal at this point. There is just no way MS will fully uproot Steam and their sales and massive catlogue of games, most indie devs also happen to go towards STeam primarily over MS. Also I can guess MS trying to throw some form of XBL onto the PC side of thigns but it's not really going to work the way they think it will, a few hardcore might go for it but they should just stick to software sales and not limit who they want to control (because they honestly still want to hold control over some system than co-existing with it).

The only way that they can remain relevant in the gaming market is by making hardware. if they Ditch their hardware and go on the PC and windows 10, they are screwed. Steam, Origin and GOG are going to be on windows 10, and there is nothing MS can do to stop them. they are all free, and Steam is the top dog.

They could try offering exclusive games on XBL on PC to make people pay the subscribition fee's, but there are only two that would have an effect, Halo and Gears. but how much can they make of those really? and its not like the PC market really goes crazy over those 2 games. if they did, they wouldnt be on PC in the first place.

i really wonder where MS is heading in the gaming Market, if they are hoping Windows 10 will be their salvation, it wont be. they could go third party i guess.

As far as Microsoft leaving the console race goes, I don't see it happening until either A) their PC gaming presence is substantially bigger and we'll established or B) Xbox sales all but fail.

As it stands they are very well positioned to profit off of both markets. The caveat? On the PC side they're going against steam and wont be able to touch those margins for a long time. On the console side? They're losing to Sony and have, at this point lost that battle. So while MS might not be remarkable in any of its late ventures, it still brings In a fuck ton of money and it wouldn't make sense to nuke the Xbox brand at this point. With the rise of certain technologies, and given their hardware sales, whether or not they want to invest in one more console gen remains to be seen and it will probably be a reactionary choice to how certain services are embraced.

I agree that it is unlikely this is "The End" of Xbox, but it also suggests that they have nothing else positive to tell investors. Switching to software, seems reasonable, but can MS really make a dent in PC gaming? There hardware allows for a closed platform that protects its software from competition, but not on PC.

Some of these bundles that are being offered will fly off shelves. Wont be surprised to see NA go back Green in 2015.

Creating Computer Enterteniment Systems and Portable Enterteniment Systems.

Yes.

I criticed what Sony did... it was a terrible decision that they back in 2013 (it was only 2012).

MS did that and I criticized again... now they did even worst but seems like for MS fans it is fine to do that lol
