Gotcha. Didn't realise it's been a year already.

That's understandable. It does still seem like it only came out a few months ago. Especially considering the last of the DLC (as of now) came out this year. The 3DS version being announced this year has also kept the theme of Hyrule Warriors feeling like such a recent thing.

In fairness, we've had no fewer than 9 Zeldas released from 2011-2016, so they've still really been living up to their haters' years-old "they release only the same series over and over" argument. (SS, OoT3D, WWHD, ALBW, HW, MM3D, TFH, HWL, TPHD (it's happening, let's be real here), and Zelda U most likely, so likely 10 before next year ends).

Depends on the argument you are trying to do. For example:
- This game is a big flop from critics!
Answer: doesn't matter because it's a spin-off
- Aonuma must have developed a real sequel or a real mainline game
Answer: It's a mainline game. It has "The Legend of Zelda" in the title

Actually I don't see how anyone can argue that the game is a mainline game. Link and Zelda are both absent from the game, and the plot is so out there, no reasonable person would consider it part of the main canon story. It is, through and through, a spinoff title.

I agree. If TFH is mainline, then so are the CD-i games. Hell, I don't even know if we can consider TFH canon considering Hytopia probably doesn't exist.
You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt! I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading. After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
