I wasn't to happy at first with star wars ep7 mainly because Disney killed off the eu . Also I thought it looked pretty terrible in the first couple of trailers but I've since warmed up to it with the most recent trailers.

This episode 7 still isn't what I hoped it would be though, with this empire remnant seemingly still going strong and the rebels not taking over the universe and advancing in the rather massive time gap since ep 6.

Oh and Chewie why u no age.

So casting a black lead, is racism against whites now? Really? Insecurity issues much?

This is the stupid Mad Max boycott all over again. Thank god Abraham didn't cast a black woman doing badass things in the lead, boy that would have rattled some cages.

Sometimes I feel like the world is going backwards...

What the fuck does supposed male chauvinism have to do with anything?

Anyway, this is another case of 4chan trolling that the media has fallen for in their quest to remain perpetually offended.

man sometimes you just have to love the internet.

I literally just laughed out loud. This is ridiculous.

The movie doesn't release until December, isn't it a bit early to be calling it bad?

no the last three were really bad and the first three wern't wonderful either

It's a trap!

Yup, i knew this was going to happen. You can't disrespect a legacy like this.
Its got nothing to do with racism, and that is a reductive way to look at it.

People expect something from Star wars. Something they review themselves in and find confort. By changing what was established for decades, its asking for trouble. Its only natural people wont feel confortable with it.

Think about it, how would you feel if Uncharted had a black woman protagonist all of a sudden? Logical? Would you feel the same attachment to the series? If Tomb raider now had a white male protagonist as another example. Would you be ok without Lara? Would you feel the same confort and attachment to the series?
No, you wouldnt. Its not a matter of racism, its a matter of confort and attachment. You change a series to something people aren't familiar with, you are inviting anger.
Another example, Raiden on MGS2. How did you enjoy that?

Thats just how it is. It doesnt depend on sex and race, it depends on confort of what is familiar. You can't change that after its been established without inviting anger from those that will feel they had their fandom betrayed.

The Trump connection is deplorable and most probably made up for bigger headlines. Very sad.

Not sure if this was directed at me, but since I mentioned the Mad Max boycott, I'm going to elaborate.

It's a bunch of people getting all insecure about the percieved 'other' invading their space. It doesn't matter much if the 'other' is a woman, a man, black, white, chinese, wookiee, it is all based on the same primal instinct of fear over loosing something beloved to a percieved threat. It is also silly and unfounded. Hence the paralel.

In case they are both just 4chan trolling, there you have the paralel right there.

Whatever you choose, it's stupid.

This is utterly ridiculous. They are new characters In a new original story moving things forward. They did not suddenly make Luke Black. By all accounts Daisy looks like the main character. A female lead is a huge departure for the series as well. So why is it important that Star Wars has a predominantly white male cast?
