Yeah sure and Wii U was more powerful than PS3/X360...
Going by their late ceo interview I find this hard to believe.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."
You know this stress test thing... this is news. Like news news. I'm surprised that there hasn't been any reports on this.

He only speculates and made assumptions, like everyone else here. Its not like a truly reliable source would post on this site anyway...

I take your comment as a proof that you don't pay much attention to HER.
Tachi is in the business, she's not just another random person posting their thoughts onthe net. And both in this thread and the other thread about NX dev kits being distributed (this one is case you missed it), she has only said what she know first hand or what other colleages have told her.
Please excuse my bad English.

PS4 MRP can be $300 but we can get it cheaper (or) at least a free game everywhere. Also PS5 will come in 2018 in order to catch up with VR games along with PS4 backwards compatiblity so users who want can upgrade without losing anything and existing users will get another 2 years of support still. NX wont come next year mostly as they need lauch library and still console has not been announced so its not possible for 3rd party or first party developers to get ready in one year for launch and NX cant compete cheaper or similar priced PS4/XB1 3 years game library too. |
It matters only official price, and official price by end of next year will be minimum $299 for PS4. Today almost every console comes with free game.
You think PS4 will have only life of 5 year, only 3 years more!? I really doubt it, more likely we are geting PS5 in 2019-2020 not 2018.
Of Course Nintendo didn't announce any game for NX when they still didn't revel NX itself.
You think Nintendo started to work on games for NX just now!? They working on NX games probably from 2014, also its almost certain that some unannounced Wii U projects are moved to NX. From 2014. Nintendo working just on Wii U and 3DS games that are already announced (except few exceptions), majority of other Nintendo teams are working hard on games for NX. Also one year is more than enuf for 3rd party to do a port. This E3, just few numbers of new WiiU/3DS games, everyone can see that Nintendo is preparing launch for end of next year, by end of next year we could easily have new 3D Mario, port of Zelda U, Retro game, Pokemon...
NX will not have higher price than PS4, for home console Nintendo is probably aiming $249-299 price point and it will be cross platform of few devices.

If the NX is more powerful than the PS4 as the article says, what are going to be the specs on the handheld/mobile part? I doubt they can put PS4-level hardware on a handheld and sell it at a reasonable price.
Everyone, please take the below tweet as a reason for why we shouldn't really believe ANYTHING that is said regarding the NX right now.
NX Portable - Handheld Chip (which is basically a redesigned Wii U chip at 14nm/16nm, AMD CPU cores that emulate the IBM PowerPC CPU take over). $199.99 tablet, custom NX OS but can emulate/run Android apps easily.
NX Mini - Same chip as portable. Micro-Console like PSTV. For people who are cheap and just want to play Nintendo games on their TV. Android apps, Virtual Console stuff as well. $169.99.
NX Console - Handheld Chip + modern AMD Zen CPU + 3TFLOP Arctic Islands GPU (mid-range). 8GB HBM2 RAM. HDD. Very, very easy to port PC games to. For pro gamers. Kinda like a Nintendo Steambox. $349.99.
Nintendo developers basically just make most of their games for the handheld chip, but on the NX Console, they can ramp up the resolution to 1080P and even beyond (2K? 4K?) with added effects.
PC devs can easily port their PC games to the pro console. Console should be able to get the best versions of multi-plats as it'd be a good deal more powerful.
I think that would be a good compromise. Something for everyone. Developers that just want to make lower-end games can target the handheld chip and then just add in higher resolution for the big console. PC devs who have high end games can just target the high end console. Easy ports of Android apps and PC games, so Nintendo should be able to get a lot of support from those two huge developer pools.
The wait for the mobile stuff is getting ridiculous now. "Soon," they said a month ago.
