Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo no longer in the list of top 100 brands

Maybe you were just younger back then and didn't notice it but the GameCube took a ton of flak, lol. When PSP was unveiled and it looked like Nintendo's hold on the portable market could be slipping a lot people were all over Nintendo.

i never said gamecube wasnt a victim i said it was a lot less than the wii u

maybe i wasnt clear im talking about nintendo in general not just their consoles but as a whole as a company as this thread basically proves.

Nintendo's brand has taken a lot of damage in the last 5 years. There's no doubt about it. When you make this many mistakes, there are consequences to that.

NX will be in an uphill. Hopefully they forget their stubborn practices and adapt to the new times.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Well that's a little sad.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

When you go from 100 million consoles to struggling to hit 17-18 million in a span of 5 years ... you've fucked up. Somewhere. Somehow. You done fucked up, as they say.

If that happened to the iPhone (they lost 85% of their audience) everyone on Apple's board would be fired.

rarely do ppl mention how nintendo went from 20m GCs  sold to 100m Wiis sold and when they do then theres a stupid reason why the Wii sold 100m and somehow that doesnt even count because reasons..

Most people don't count the wii, because as Nintendo themselves have shown, they can't replicate that success. Meaning they got lucky, not that they had everything under control

I guess this makes sense in terms of market value..

Sad to see, but it's honestly isn't that surprising

Pampers is 28th.

New electronic devices come and go but babies will always poop.

ain't surprising at all. they'll bounce back and it is really hard for Nintendo to be a gaming company. that is why they are pursuing other stuff like theme parks, films, etc. in order to have a better brand recognition.

Really? Damn. I need to sell all of my nintendo products now.

Seriously though, who cares? I would have never seen/heard about this if not for this topic and it would not have affected my gaming.

That being said, Nintendo has made some BIG mistakes and will hopefully rectify them with the NX

Yeah, like not making it on a made up list.

Guarantee they're back on this time next year.

I can't see Nintendo ever recovering tbh.

Their name is not the force it once was for the younger generations, most Nintendo fans are probably in their 30s now. They're becoming like Atari, something that used to be cool.

The Dreamcast didn't fail because it was a bad console, it failed because of the damage done to the Sega name by the 32X and Saturn.

Not only has the Wii U has done serious damage but so has the Wii. That Wii audience moved on to phones/tablets, they don't care about Wii Sports/Fit anymore. The traditional gamer who bought a Wii was essentially forced to get a 360/PS3 due to the shovelware released on Wii. They were burned and won't be coming back.

Nintendo have lost two audiences not just that casual one. All thats left are the diehard fans who remember the glory years of the Entertainment Systems.

Now the most depressing part of this as someone who just enjoys his games regardless of what plastic box they're on is this...

Zelda will flop. I don't mean 500k flop but something in the region of 1.5-2m. For an open world game and Nintendos biggest ever game in terms of budget etc it basically won't make money.

Now what makes Nintendo money? Outside of Mario. Pokemon and Animal Crossing spring to mind. Games that could easily be done on phones.

Nintendo have already gone 3rd party imo, its just been very subtle. Once it hits home that phones are where the money is and games like Zelda just aren't worth the bother anymore you'll see a very different Nintendo.

Would they even bother with Zelda on PS or Xbox? Would it be worth it? They could be another Konami in the making.
