Forums - Sales - How different would the US market be if they had to pay these prices?

"Australia is one of the highest taxing nations in the world."

Stop whining , Australia has the longest economic boom of any "western" country with decades of 3-4% growth. In Germany we were approximately flat for a whole decade 1995-2005 and have had sub inflation wage increases for a long time.
I know there is always someone who feels like he doesn't get enough but overall you are well-off.

What is the minimum wage in Australia i know in the UK its greater than the USA Minimum wage when you take into account Exchange rates so im happy with the pricing, If yours is higher than the USA's by around the same amount as prices are different then there is no need to feel bad about paying more for your games when your getting payed more.

If things would cost more, less people would buy them.

I doubt minimum wage has anything to do with this. Rab, if this was US gaming costs

"PS3 and 360 games for $105 - $115 US

Wii games for $75 - 95 US"

Than costs in Australia would be $140-$220.  Would that discourage game sales in Australia :)

I think that Brazil has even worse situation than Australia (I believe that there was a user here who posted ridiculouly high prices for consoles there)....
For example, here in Poland, avarage new game price is 170-180 Polish Złoty (PLZ or PLN), which is about 80US$ with today exchange rates....yeah, this is bullsh..... I think that importing from the US is better idea than buying the game in your country (if you have region free/modded console that is...).

Why does everyone compare the prices of games with the US Prices as if most of the systems come from America.

Shouldn't game prices and bitching be directed at the Japanese?

Either way, i imagine the US gets the best prices because it's the biggest market... well aside from all the taxes and other factors.

That's how things like this usually work due to shipping costs being lower the more bulk you use.

I would never pay that. Ever. I have a hard enough time paying $50 for a game. I usually get DS games for $15 and Wii games for $25 when I can.

The biggest market allows for overhead to be spread inexpensively over a greater number of products.

Lower taxes mean that you pay less for a product.

The dollar is in the shithouse right now.

There ya go.

No. The companies just trade in USD, which basically means, that the price in USA stays the same, when in other regions they change when the currency exchange rates change. Basically if USD would suddenly double its value, the USAns would get the bad deal.
