It reached 1 million at about the same speed as Splatoon.I expect this game do sell LF more than 4 million, but by the end of the year it should pass the 2 million mark, especially because of the holidays
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Added to the first post. NoE says over 2.2 million courses have been created so far.

Also, why are people amazed and surprised?
It's Mario. A Mario platforming title. Level creator or not, it is still a Mario platformer. It was guaranteed to sell quickly and slam that one million mark because attach rates are like that for first party titles on Nintendo platforms.

Woo!!!
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
