Short Story: It doesn't appeal to me at all, and doesn't look fun. 

Long Story:  Alright... I'm not really too much into the 2D Mario games. I played most of the 2D Mario games like The first one, DS, wii and wii u, and 3ds.They were all fun! The DS version gave me childhood memories. The Wii gave me christmas memories of 2009/10 and the 3ds verion was okay... but the Wii U version was kinda of a dissapointment... It was way harder than the Wii version and wasnt as fun. It was like I was playing a less fun HD version of the Wii version... It was so dissapointing I stopped at a world and didn't finish the game. Ever since then, the 2D Mario games has been kinda ruined for me... I was considering on getting Super Mario Maker at one point but not anymore. Maybe I'll get a used copy later but idk. Not interested in making my own levels or other people levels either, and I also heard there's  alot of features left out on Super Mario Maker. Overrall I'm not interested, I would rather replay the fantastic Wii verions which was the last best 2D Mario game to me.      

Well at least you play your Wii U everyday. I only semi achieve that with my 3DS. I'm lazy with my Wii U sometimes and zone out to Netflix or Hulu. Basically, I need to play some more Mario Kart.  Oh and I don't have SMM yet but I plan on getting it during the holidays.  I was thinking this month but I'm just going to wait.  There will be no price drop but my backlog is too great.  I just got 3D World and still haven't beat NSMBU.  So yeah...  I don't need it yet.

I'm feeling the same way, I'm not at all interested in Mario maker. I'd rather a full on Mario game made by Nintendo than this do it yourself version.

Here's hoping they launch the NX with an amazing new Mario game!

Also New Super Mario Bros U is clearly superior to the Wii one, you just don´t like it because is harder, wich is actually a good thing, since the Wii version was not even close to the difficulty of the classics.

It feels blasphemous as a Nintendo fan, but I returned SMM today... It's a great idea, presented fantastically, but I put 5 hours into it and decided it just wasn't for me.

And you are saying that without owning the game...
I bought it day one. A copy for me and another one as a present.
I have played it 6h maybe and I feel the same. It's not fun for me.
It would be a lot better if it had more types of enemies, more bosses, more variety in general (woods, ice, lava, beach...) but as it is I don't find it fun.
If they release dlc's with more options I would be more than happy to try it again.
Also, a lot of the levels made are: automatic levels (which is nice to see but when you play more than 3 it's not fun at all), very short levels, uninspired levels, levels with 40 enemies at the same time or even levels where you are only able to try like 20 different amiibo costumes.
I thought fans would be more inspired, but the levels are simple and nothing like a Nintendo level.
It's a good idea, and they could improve it a lot, but as it is the game is just no fun for me :(
